Revision as of 19:11, 13 March 2015

Hello. Dr. Fisher. I have just reviewed the OTRS permission ticket for the article Harold Mendelsohn. I see that you were given some code to paste on the talk pages of articles you create to help avoid confusion over the copyright status of the content. I have pasted this code (with slight modification, to identify the university) on your user page, at User:Steven Paul Fisher. You should be able to just copy-paste it (curly brackets and all) to the article's talk pages. Please be sure you are logged in when you do this - these tags are not generally supposed to be applied by individuals who are not OTRS agents, and I fear that your doing so as an IP edtor is likely to cause some confusion. If people are confused by your doing so under your named account, you can simply point them to your user page and note that the template was placed there by somebody who is an OTRS agent. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 19:46, 16 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Archiving

As an additional note, I noticed your talk page was getting a bit long and unwieldy. Since I see you've edited in response to your last notice, I have taken the great liberty of archiving it for you. This is meant to be helpful to you; if this is unwelcome, I do apologize and will happily restore your talk page to the condition it was in. :) None of the contents have been deleted; they are simply now located at User talk:Steven Paul Fisher/Archive 1. We generally do not encourage deletion of talk page contents, but archival is common. I'd encourage you to transfer anything from your talk page that you are finished reading and no longer want or need to that subpage.

Happy editing, and do please feel free to stop by my talk page if I can be of assistance. I would also encourage you to visit the Wikipedia:Teahouse if you need help. This is meant to be a welcoming environment for newcomers. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 19:52, 16 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi - thank you - you are a big help. I had a couple of Sandbox questions - is it really three weeks before a response? I was encouraged to use Sandbox rather than creating a new articles directly, but three weeks is very long. Also - is it ok to post more than one article draft in Sandbox at a time?

Encyclopedia articles

If you go to other encyclopedias you will notice that the first sentence of an article often defines the topic. Would you add such a sentence to Deatt Hudson? MicroPaLeo (talk) 23:13, 22 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I have an unrlated question. I currently have an article in Sandbox awaiting review. Can I start on a draft of another article in Sandbox? I don't see where to start/edit/submit another article.

The problem is the use of the OTRS tagging on the article draft. That suggests that it is copied from somewhere else. Given that you have a number it means that you have a response. However only an OTRS volunteer can confirm that it is OK and correct. I did not see any OTRS volunteer put it there. However if you can point out to me where the volunteer did place that template on Wikipedia then I could change my mind. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 04:27, 12 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Now I see that User:Moonriddengirl asked you to do it. She should have included a link back to https://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=User:Steven_Paul_Fisher&oldid=643003121 to show where this came from. I will take another look at the draft to see if there is any real problem. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 04:36, 12 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

My article draft in Sandbox was accepted and posted to Wikipedia. How do I now remove it from Sandbox and begin a new draft there? Steven Paul Fisher Steven Paul Fisher (talk) 14:56, 13 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If you click on User:Steven Paul Fisher/sandbox now, you are taken to the article; but at the top, just under the title, is a line "(Redirected from User:Steven Paul Fisher/sandbox)". That is a link, and clicking on it will take you back to the actual sandbox page, which you can edit to remove the "redirect" that is there, and add something new.
You don't have to use the same sandbox page for each article: you can make as many WP:User subpages as you like, each starting with "User:Steven Paul Fisher/". A good way is to click on Help:Userspace draft and fill in the title, which will make a draft page for you with a link to useful advice and a button to send it for review when it is ready. Put {{User sandbox}} at the top of the page. That will produce a "sandbox" template including a "submit" button for when you are ready. JohnCD (talk)
