Streamload is an online file hosting service that enables individuals to enjoy their personal digital videos, digital music, digital photos, and files from anywhere and share them with any person or device. Users of the online subscription service can sign up for a free account which allows them to store up to 25GB of their personal digital media in a secure online storage account and download to their Internet-connected devices or share up to 100 MB of their personal media with others. Streamload offers an upgraded service for paying subscribers that includes unlimited online storage and a range of download plans starting at 2 gigabyte of downloads for $4.95 a month. Streamload also offers some optional tools that allow a more easy and simple access to the accounts.
xStreamMail is an online, web-based email service that is offered free of charge to Streamload users. Via xStreamMail users can send files up to 2 gigabytes in size and attach up to 25,000 files per email allowing for up to 50 terabytes of file attachments per email message.
Streamload servers do not store multiple copies of identical files, and instead share one copy of the file between all users who have uploaded it. One advantage of this is seen when using their custom StreamLoad Uploader tool. Before transferring a file, the Uploader and Server compare the file fingerprint and if an equivalent copy already exists on the server, the file can be "uploaded" by simply referencing the existing copy. On the other hand, if a file on the Streamload servers gets lost or corrupted, it affects every user for which this file was available to. When files get lost, Streamload claims that these files are temporarily unavailable due to maintenance problems, but in many cases they will never be recovered. Example of Streamload File Problem
