Birth of a Family (Korean: 가족의 탄생) was a "animal communion variety" program and was first broadcast on November 12, 2011. The program is divided into two corners, Let's Live Together (같이 삽시다) and Birth of a Family (가족의 탄생). Let's Live Together features Lee Hwi-jae and Kim Byung-man as rare animals visit their home. Birth of a Family features idol groups living with and becoming the family of abandoned dogs, and helping them find new owners.[8][9] Infinite and A Pink were the first groups of idols and were replaced with Hyuna of 4Minute, G.NA, and Siwan of ZE:A in March.[10]
The show documents various idol groups taking care of abandoned animals for 8 weeks or so – until the animal is adopted by a new family.
In addition, the show will also feature rare animals that are not commonly seen in the company of people. The show hopes to raise awareness about issues involving animal neglect. It hopes that by bringing in celebrities on the show to care for these animals, they may help increase awareness and capture the hearts of citizens. As the celebrities laugh and cry while raising these animals, the show hopes to inspire citizens to take a deeper interest in abandoned and homeless animals. http://money.joins.com/news/article/article.asp?total_id=6551112&ctg=1502
