David Castillo i Buïls (Barcelona, 1961) is a Catalan poet, writer, and literary critic. He started out as a poet with counterculture and clandestine publications at 1970s , although his first published work, a declaration of principles, was the biography of Bob Dylan in 1992. Three years earlier, he had been the anthologist of Ser del segle, which brought together leading voices of the generation of 80s They followed a series of poems among them Game over, which won the premi Carles Riba. Then, he began a career as a writer with novels like El cel de l'infern and No miris enrere, amb bons resultats entre crítica i lectors. The first won the premi Crexells for the best Catalan novel of 1999. The second has been awarded the Premi Sant Jordi de novel·la of 2001. He has received three times Atlàntida awards for journalism and he has also been awarded the International Prize Tratta to the best foreign poet for an anthology of his poetry translated into Italian. He has been organizing various poetic cycles and he is founder and director of the Poetry Week in Barcelona since 1997.[1]
Moreover, he is publishing articles and literary reviews almost since its inception. From 1989 he is directing the cultural supplement of the newspaper El Punt Avui. He has been leading, for 8 years anys, the magazine Lletra de canvi and he has also worked for five year as a lecturer of Autonomous University of Barcelona. He has published, with the young poet Marc Sardà, the book Conversaciones con Pepín Bello, which had a deep impact in criticism.[1]
