Alfred H. Ricketts (born February 1870) was an English professional golfer.

Early life

In 1888 he emigrated to the United States and was a golf instructor at the Country Club of Rochester in Rochester, New York.[1][2] In 1900, Ricketts married Nettie Brooks.

Golf career

Ricketts tied for sixth place with Bernard Nicholls in the 1897 U.S. Open, held at Chicago Golf Club in Wheaton, Illinois. He got off to a poor start with an opening round 91 but with a full 10-shot improvement in round two at 81 he finished high on the leaderboard.[3] Ricketts also had a tenth place finish in the 1896 U.S. Open by carding rounds of 80-83=163.[3][4]

Later life

By 1910 he was a widower. In 1930 he was no longer in the golf business, but rather was working as a packer and stamper in a metal fabrication factory.

Family

He had a son, Albert G. Ricketts, born circa 1902.
