Even Stevens is a comedy television program which aired on the Disney Channel from 2000 to 2003. The plot centers on the Stevens family, and in particular the harebrained schemes concocted by middle-schooler Louis Stevens and how they disturb his perfectionist older sister, Ren. Although a sitcom, the show did not use a laugh track. However, one of the main trademark camera shots used on the show were fast-motion transitions between scenes. Reruns will air starting in Fall 2006 on syndication, usually twice a day depending on the station. The title is a pun on the phrase 'even steven', which is often employed to describe a situation, such as a sporting event, in which the scores are even.

It was announced in May 2006 that Lizzie McGuire and Even Stevens will air on WGN Superstation in September 2006.

Production on the show ceased after 65 episodes due to Disney's policies, even though the show was still quite popular. The show was concluded with a Disney Channel Original Movie, called The Even Stevens Movie on June 13, 2003.

Major Characters

  • Louis Stevens (Shia LaBeouf)- Louis is the youngest son of the family - unlike his perfect siblings and equally perfect parents, he can't seem to find his place, so he is often involved in practical jokes, get rich-quick schemes and generally trying to annoy Ren. He began the series as somewhat of a social outcast but in the middle of season one he became more popular and garnered more notice from the in-crowd.
  • Renee "Ren" Stevens (Christy Carlson Romano)- Louis' perfectionist and intelligent older sister. She is the classic over-achiever and is constantly running as Hall Monitor and Class President while trying to stop Louis from getting himself in trouble. Ren is also known as the principal's pet.
  • Eileen Stevens (Donna Pescow)- Louis' mother who is a California state senator.
  • Steve Stevens (Tom Virtue)- Louis' quirky lawyer father.
  • Donnie Stevens (Nick Spano)- Ren and Louis' athletic older brother. Donnie is quite odd, sensitive, highly concerned with his appearance, and a little airheaded, although he is fundamentally perfect at all sports.
  • Alan Twitty (A.J. Trauth)- Louis' best friend who is similar to Louis but usually isn't as extreme and often has to get Louis out of situations.
  • Tawny Dean (Margo Harshman)- Louis' friend, and eventually his girlfriend. Tawny at first has no friends and is an outsider, until she meets Louis, whom she first dislikes but she then befriends. She's the moderator of the three. Tawny usually dresses in gothic clothing, unlike her classmates.

Recurring Characters

  • Tom Gribalski (Fred Meyers) - Louis' geeky, unpopular, uncool, and intelligent friend. When Louis cooks up a scheme, Tom usually tries to talk Louis out of it and usually doesn't play along. Also, Tom speaks with a scientific philosophy intelligent slang. He is also the hall monitor.
  • Conrad Wexler (George Anthony Bell) - the principal of the middle school; Ren is his pet student while Louis drives him bananas.
  • Bernard "Beans" Arrongaron (Steven Anthony Lawrence) - a neighbor of the Stevens who comes to their home uninvited, makes himself at home, and refuses to leave; eventually turns into a sidekick for Louis' and Twitty's schemes
  • Ruby Mendel (Lauren Frost) - Ren's best friend who loves to gossip about news that goes around in school, usually involving crushes and students who are going out.
  • Coach Tugnut (Jim Wise) - The vegetarian gym coach who is always tough on Louis. He is frequently the victim of one of Louis's pranks.
  • Larry Beale (Eric "Ty" Hodges) - Ren's nasty, popular, charismatic, know-it-all rival for her titles who always seeks to destroy her reputation. Larry's schemes usually turn on him, however.
  • Nelson Minkler (Gary LeRoi Gray) - Ren's friend who seems to be a allergic to everything, as evident of his overpotection of himslf when outside
