Master of Orion (MoO or MOO) is a reimaging of the award-winning and critically acclaimed sci-fi strategy game first released in 1993 [1]. Being developed by Argentine-based NGD Studios and reimagined by Wargaming [2], the game is built around the 4X (Explore, Expand, Exploit and Exterminate) turn-based model. In Master of Orion, the player leads one of 10 playable races to galactic supremacy through the exploration and colonization of star systems while utilizing diplomacy, conquest and technological developments [3].

On June 9, 2015, Wargaming announced the revival of Master of Orion.

Gameplay [4]

Master of Orion is a turn-based strategy game that lets players take control of one of 10 playable races who can compete or coexist with other AI controlled opponents across a vast galaxies [5].

Using a traditional point-and-click interface and keyboard, players manage colonies, technological developments, ship construction, inter-species diplomacy, and combat. In Master of Orion, players typically begin the game with a colonized home world in their solar system. Utilizing colony resources such as Credit income, Research, Food, and Production, the player can grow their empire, expand their fleet, explore new worlds, increase their resources and trade, and combat other races. Victory is achieved by eliminating all other opponents or winning a vote for peaceful unification.

Playable Races [6]

BULRATHI

The Bulrathi, unmatched in brawn and brute force, will use any advantage to attack their enemies. Peerless in hand-to-hand combat, only a fool would fight a Bulrathi on the ground. Only a fool would fight a Bulrathi on the ground, as the Bulrathi are peerless in hand-to-hand combat. While notorious for relying on their raw strength, they also care deeply about their planets, focusing their limited scientific resources on terraforming technologies.

HUMANS

The charismatic Humans have overcome millennia of internal divisions to present a unified face on the galactic stage. Humans enjoy friendly relations with all races, but when crossed they can become bitter enemies. While they pride themselves on diplomacy and honor, the Humans will fight to the death to protect what they believe in.

SAKKRA

The Sakkra are an aggressive race that must be constantly conquering new planets in order to support their booming population. They shun scientific and diplomatic pursuits in favor of aggressive expansionist philosophies. If they run out of room for peaceful expansion, they will not hesitate to attack anyone who stands in their way.

Legacy

Previous commercial titles in the Master of Orion series include the original Master of Orion (1993), Master of Orion II: Battle at Antares (1996), and Master of Orion III (2003).
