James Richards (born 1983)[1] is a British artist who lives in Berlin and London[2]

Richards was born in Cardiff.[1] He studied Fine Art at Chelsea College of Art & Design, London.[3]

On 7 May 2014, it was announced that he was one of the four nominees for the Turner Prize.[4] Richards has been nominated for Rosebud a 13-minute black and white video, which includes video clips and photographs taken from erotic books in a library in Tokyo, all of which have had the genitalia scratched out to comply with censorship laws.[2]

He is represented by Cabinet gallery, London and Rodeo gallery, Istanbul.[citation needed]
