He has been the team chairman since his election in 1993.[1] He is assumed by many to be a hand of the Algerian regime (Département du Renseignement et de la Sécurité - DRS) in Kabylie province which has been the stronghold of polticial contestation and struggle for democracy and human rights in Algeria since Algeria obtained its independence in 1962.
