Articles on Halls

Hello, everyone. Great article, but I think you've gone a little bit overboard with the student hall articles:

2. Bidhan Chandra Roy Hall

4. Homi J. Bhabha Hall

5. J.C.Bose Hall

6. Lala Lajpat Rai Hall

7. Meghnad Saha Hall

9. Nehru Hall

10. Patel Hall

11. Radhakrisnan Hall

12. Rajendra Prasad Hall

14. Vidya Sagar Hall

16. Ashutosh Mukherjee Hall

17. Old MBM Hostel

18. Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya Hall

These articles contain little if anything of interest except to possibly the residents of these halls, and no claim of notability is made. I don't see much material here that would make even a summary article in the vain of List of MIT dormitories notable, but maybe you can. In the state they are in, I think they are best deleted.

See also the discussion with one of the authors at User_talk:Ambuj.saxena#Old_MBM_Hostel, WP:VAIN and in particular WP:BAI. Greetings, Sandstein 06:54, 23 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

In response to the debate mentioned, I have moved all individual Hall articles and articles associated with student life (not academically related to IIT Kharagpur) to Student Life in IIT Kharagpur. -Ambuj Saxena (talk) 13:33, 28 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Audis

Did I miss them or am I right in saying that there is no mention of SNB, F142, F116, Netaji, Kalidas, Takshshila etc? Bunty.Gill 09:29, 1 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There is mention of Netaji and Takshashila in the article. I see that you have added the mention of F-142 and F-116. Info on SNB would be too much trivia. Info on Kalidas will be added when it gets inaugurated (I believe it is still under construction). — Ambuj Saxena (talk) 12:21, 1 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
From newspapers, I gather RGSOIPL was inaug. in Kalidas Bunty.Gill 13:57, 1 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Faculty

There shd be a sep heading for imp faculty like PP Chak, GS Sanyal and SN Banerjee of EE (the world's most highly cited author in chaos theory!!)Bunty.Gill 09:36, 1 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Any addition of this nature would require verifiable sources. I couldn't find any that would back these claims. If you find any, we can change the section title "Alumni" to "People" and add another paragraph about the faculty. Note: By itself, "important" is very subjective, and we will have to concentrate on why and how they are important. GS Sanyal is definitely one of the most renowned professors, and the school of telecommunications has been named after him. If we can find some info on him, it would be great. — Ambuj Saxena (talk) 12:27, 1 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The issue of "importance" is definitely arguable, but what is not is that faculty are at least as important as the students. PPC's verifiable source is facweb, GS Sanyal info will be available somewhere and for SNB it is ISIHighlycited.com - the fact that *you* are unaware/against something does not mean it can not be added here.
