Wes Hampton (born December 8, 1977) is the 2nd tenor for The Gaither Vocal Band.[1] He joined the group following the departure of David Phelps in 2005.[2] Wes sang 1st tenor for the group from 2005 to 2009, and he now sings with the current formation consisting of Bill Gaither (bass), Adam Crabb (lead), Todd Suttles (baritone), Phelps (1st tenor), and Hampton (2nd tenor). He also performs solo concerts.
Early life
Wes Hampton was born in Memphis, Tennessee.[3] He studied at Trevecca Nazarene University from 1996 to 1998, and he then went on to receive a B.A. in psychology and a minor in music from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, in 2000.[4]
Career
Prior to being a member of the Gaither Vocal Band, Hampton was part of the worship staff of a Birmingham church for seven years. He was also a member of a group called the Trevadores during his years at Trevecca, for whom he sang lead. Hampton first started with the Gaither Vocal Band in 2005. The group formation then consisted of Hampton, Guy Penrod, Marshall Hall, and Bill Gaither. His first recording with them was the album Give it Away released in 2007. They then released the albums Christmas Gaither Vocal Band Style and Lovin' Life in 2008.
He also received an award from Singing News in 2006, the Singing News Horizon Individual Fan Award.[5]

Personal life
Hampton is married to Andrea (Means), and they have four boys, Barrett, Hudson, Carden, and Sutton.
