Garjanai is a 1981 Tamil language film directed by C. V. Rajendran starring Rajinikanth and Madhavi in the lead roles. Music was scored by Ilaiyaraaja. The film was first made in Malayalam, with Jayan. After his death during the filming of Kolilakkam, the film was re-shot with Rajinikanth; simultaneously in Malayalam and Tamil owing to Rajini's huge fan base in Tamil Nadu. The movie did not fare well at the box office and was a failure.

Plot

Dr.Vijay (Rajinikanth) is an honest doctor who faces off against a dangerous, diabolical gang led by Mithra (M.N. Nambiar) and Parasuram (Jaishankar) that contaminates common food items with lethal substances and then makes profits by supplying antidotes. Geetha (Madhavi) is Vijay's love interest while Rekha (Geetha) is his sister.
