Career

Hyndman and his husband Steven Sabados launched the interior design firm Sabados Group in 1992.[1] In addition to private clients, they did set design work for various television productions in the Toronto area, and later starred in the first three seasons of Designer Guys, a Canadian design show. In 2003, Sabados and Hyndman debuted a new show with a similar format, titled Design Rivals, and more recently a makeover show called So Chic with Steven and Chris.

In 2009, Sabados and Hyndman appeared on CBC Kids with Mamma Yamma.

Personal life

He was born in Ottawa, Ontario and grew up in Paradise, Newfoundland and Labrador.

Partner

Hyndman first met future partner Steven Sabados at a bar in Toronto in 1988 where they debate feminism. They both worked at City-TV then moved in together three months later.[2]

Sabados and Hyndman are both openly gay.[3] Despite being a longtime couple off-screen, they did not publicly acknowledge their relationship until 2007.[4] [5]

Death

On August 3, 2015, Hyndman was found dead at the age of 49 in an alleyway in Toronto near the home he shared with Sabados. He was found without vital signs shortly after 11 p.m EST.[6][1]
