Abdul Hakim (c. 1620 – c. 1690) was a poet in medieval Bengal.[1]
Early life
Hakim was born in the village of Sudharampur of Sandwip island in 1620. Some argue that he was born in Babupur of Noakhali district.[1]
Career
Those who hate Bengali language, despite being born in Bengal, I doubt the legitimacy of their birth.

Hakim's most notable work was Nur Nama (Story of Light), a depiction of the life of Muhammad. Hakim is well known for is his patriotism and specially his love for the Bengali language.
Other books he wrote are Shihabuddin Nama, Karbala, Lalmati Saiful Mulk, Chari Maqam Bhed and Hanifar Lorai, Durre Majlish.[2] He translated the Persian romance Yusuf Wa Zulekha (1483 AD) in Bengali.[1] Abdul Hakim criticized those Bengali people who looked down upon Bengali language and doubted the legitimacy of their birth.[3]
