For whatever reason, it still doesn't touch Lakeland Highlands. --[[User talk:NE2|NE2]] 21:32, 22 April 2014 (UTC)

I have removed (and reverted to a previous version) the introduction which implies many of the "new" subdivisions have ncreased the population of Highland City. I believe most of the growth has been in the Census Designated Lakeland Highlands, not Highland City. Although I do admit there is dispute as to where Highland City begins and where Lakeland Highlands begins, I think the Census Designated areas' boundaries is at Stokes Road, with the roads which run diagonal to the "four directions" being "Highland city", while those where the grid changes to north/south, east/west directions is considered "Lakeland Highlands".

Geographic Boundaries

The 2000 census defines the "Census Designated Place" as the area bordered by Strickland Rd on the West, that part of Clubhouse Rd laying between Strickland Rd and 1st St SE on the North, that part of 1st St SE laying between Clubhouse Road and Hancock Ave SE, continuing on that small portion of Hancock Ave SE laying between 1st St SE and US-98, continuing on US-98 to Central Barn Rd on the East, that part of Central Barn Rd laying between US-98 and Strickland Rd on the South.

Anyone who has lived in the area will be very quick to include other common areas in the definition of Highland City. Nearly anything off Lake Hancock Rd is generally accepted as Highland City, as well as the areas off Boy Scout Rd. —Preceding unsigned comment added by FloridaIsMyCountry (talkcontribs) 02:49, 28 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The Census Bureau agrees with you: in 2010 the CDP was expanded. Rough boundaries are Crews Lake Drive/Bartow city limits (south), Lake Hancock (east), Lake Hancock Road (north), and Tillery Road/McCall Road (west). For whatever reason, it still doesn't touch Lakeland Highlands. --NE2 21:32, 22 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
