The season will commence on 4 February 2016 with the final match to be held on 24 February 2016 in Doha, Qatar.[1][2] 90 cricketers from around the world have shown interest,out of which 30 are well known players in which 15 are Diamonds and Platinum.Some of the names that will participate in this season including few big names of Kieron Pollard, Grant Elliott, Angelo Mathews, Lasith Malinga, Tim Bresnan[3] and Tillakaratne Dilshan.[4][5]Sources told media that Sri Lankan stars Mathews and Malinga signed for PSL.

Venue

Inaugural event of Pakistan Super League would be played in Doha at West End Park International Cricket Stadium as confirmed by Pakistan Cricket Board. The stadium has the capacity of up to 13,000 seats.[7]

Teams

The five city-based franchises will contest in inaugural season of Pakistan Super League. The team will be final till December, 2015 by Pakistan Cricket Board after auction to be held in Lahore.

Rules and regulations

Pakistan Super League will be same rules and regulations as given by International Cricket Council and also use by Indian Premier League annually.

Points in the group stage would awarded as follows:

In the event of tied scores after both teams have faced their quota of overs, a bowl-out will determine the winner, even in the group stage.[8]

In the group stage, teams will be ranked on the following criteria:[9]

  1. Higher number of points
  2. If equal, higher number of wins
  3. If still equal, net run rate
  4. If still equal, lower bowling strike rate
  5. If still equal, result of head to head meeting.
