Super Godzilla is a video game for the Super Nintendo released in 1993 by Toho.

Unlike other games of the era, Super Godzilla isn't a straight action game. Instead, the player must guide the famed monster into the different levels by pressing the adequate button in the appropriate place. The game is split in two screens: the top one shows the actions Godzilla is making at the moment, while the bottom one shows his location on the current level. When Godzilla finds a monster to battle, the game switchs into a standard side-view fighting segment. This game is known by having Bagan, a monster that was to have a chance to fight Godzilla in one of his movies, but was never seen again after this.

Story

  • Invading aliens have now approached Earth, threatening all life. The fate of the world lies in the hands in a small group of people, who enlist the aid of Godzilla. Controlling the monster through a transmitter on the Super X2, players must lead Godzilla through several cities. Taking the defender to fight a final boss that awaits at the end of each level. Yet aliens and monsters aren't Godzilla's only worries, as he will face smaller obstacles such as tanks, electricity towers, mines, and UFOs as well. Can the terror of Japan save the world? Or will the age of man come to an end?

Specifics

Use a wide variety of Items to help beat monsters. Godzilla can smash through mountains, buildings and Towers. Beat the Mother Ship and you will eliminate all the UFO's for that round of the game. Each level is timed, and if you do not finish it in that time you will fail the level. You can only hold 4 Colored orbs at a time, which can only be used in battle mode. The terrain that you walk on will affect the speed of which Godzilla moves (deep water takes forever to wade through).

Playable Characters

Defender of Japan, the monster that once destroyed civilzation was now humanity's only hope for survival. In his quest to rid the Earth of its aggressors, Godzilla is aided by a small band of humans that will aid the King of the Monsters as he faces the horrors beyond a thousands stars.

After King Ghidorah is resurrected as Mecha-King Ghidorah, the human characters determine that Godzilla must increase in power, and so Godzilla must seek out the 3 capsules of Super S energy, only then will the reptilian creature transform into the godly stature of Super Godzilla. After defeating Mecha-King Ghidorah, Bagan, the ultimate enemy monster of the game appears and Godzilla must again be changed into Super Godzilla in order to combat him.

Super Godzilla's physical appearance is the direct inspiration for Space Godzilla, and the space monster's physical form is an almost direct duplication of Super Godzilla's appearance from the game with only minor, mostly cosmetic changes.

Walkthrough

  • Level 1: Osaka A horrible three headed dragon, dubbed King Ghidorah, is leveling the city of Osaka. No weapon of man can stop the creature, so the fate of Earth falls upon the hands of a few. Together, a scientist and a few others gain control of Godzilla and send the leviathan out to stop the terror. Followed closely by the Super X2, Godzilla must wad through the crumbling city to face Ghidorah, who either lies at Osaka Castle or Tsutenkaru Tower. Can the newly turned defender of the world eliminate the golden beast?

Boss King Ghidorah

  • Level 2: Mt. Fuji After blasting free King Ghidorah's central head, the monster is teleported away. It is shown to the astonished world that the dragon was the tool of an invading alien race. The celestial beings warn mankind that they will fall…and that they have only begun to see their true power. Meanwhile, a new enemy has arisen. Mankind moves Godzilla to the forest ridden mountains, but is astonished to find what is awaiting them. Another Godzilla is here. Which is truly the real Godzilla?

Boss Mechagodzilla

  • Level 3: Lake Ashino On the mountain, it is revealed that the fake Godzilla is a robot in disguise. Once the truth is shown, it does not take the monster long to eliminate his steel clone. Though during the battle, the aliens have now kidnapped the professor. The beings hid the man in one of several locations, and it is Godzilla's job to find him. Time is running out for Godzilla. Can the giant find the professor, and defeat the beast that dwells in Lake Ashino? Only time will tell.

Boss Biollante

  • Level 4: Yokohama Godzilla rescues the doctor, and dispenses with the plant hybrid, Biollante. In return, the professor injects some King Ghidorah cells into Godzilla, thereby making him stronger. The experiment proves successful, and just in time. A new monster is flying around Yokohama. A deadly insect like bat creature called Battra. Godzilla must face against a foe that can dodge nearly all his attacks. And, to make matters worse, another Battra, in larva form, is cocooned. Can Godzilla defeat the buzzing mutant, and stop the birth of another?

Boss Battra

  • Level 5: Tokyo Part 1 In the end of the battle, Godzilla kills both of the Battras and ventures to the final site of conflict. The aliens have tempted man with a choice. Godzilla could either seek out the 5 energy capsules that would turn the reptile into Super Godzilla, or stop Mecha-King Ghidorah before 50% of the city burns. Which choice will lead to victory, and which would lead to the end of Earth? Is Godzilla strong enough to destroy Mecha King Ghidorah, or does Super Godzilla have to stand up to the plate?

Boss Mecha-King Ghidorah

  • Level 6: Tokyo Part 2 Whichever choice you make, Godzilla proves the victor. But all is not well as a huge twisting ball of flesh and blood descends, heralding several spores of its matter leveling everything in site. The aliens proclaim that Bagan, a creature from Earth's ancient past, has been injected with cells from Godzilla and King Ghidorah making it the ultimate warrior. Godzilla must now face the demon, and stay alive long enough for the Super X2 to retrieve the necessary energy for Godzilla to transform into Super Godzilla. One side will fall. Which side?

Boss Bagan(monster)

After the death of Mecha-King Ghidorah and the recover of the 5 energy capsules that turns you into Super Godzilla, the aliens fuse the D.N.A of Godzilla and King Ghidorah with the monster Bagan, which the aliens claim to have taken from super ancient China. Bagan first appears as a floating sphere that levels all of Tokyo. When confronted again, the sphere morphs and Bagan's true form is revealed. Bagan was actually a scrapped kaiju from previous TOHO DaiKaiju Eiga concepts, and is very likely the most popular of TOHO's unused creations. He dwarfs Godzilla, and is nearly invincible against all of Godzilla's attacks, making him near impossible to defeat without transforming into Super Godzilla.
