How to get help
Hi. The page WP:Requests for undeletion is only intended for making requests to restore pages which already have been deleted. To ask for help in other circumstances, you can:
- put {{helpme}} on your talk page (two curly brackets each side), and explain beneath it what help you want, or
- ask at the WP:Help desk, or
- if you want comments on an article, post at WP:Requests for feedback.
Regards, JohnCD (talk) 15:42, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
- I made a mistake above, which I have corrected: the place to ask for comments on an article is WP:Requests for feedback, not WP:Requests for comment. JohnCD (talk) 16:24, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
Editing technique
May I offer you two pieces of advice about editing technique?
- It is important to give WP:Edit summaries. Just below the main edit box, there is a small box marked "Edit summary (Briefly describe the changes you have made)". Into that you should type a few words to describe the edit you are making - something like "Expand section on criticism" or "Amend format" or "Correct dates", and if necessary something about the reason for the change.. Those will show in the edit history, and will be helpful to anyone wanting to understand how the article developed or why a particular change was made.
Re:Thathaal
Dear Jogibaba, thank you for my message on my talk page. I feel priviledged that you have asked for my help. I have been extrememly busy in real life and have not had the opportunity to review your article in depth. When time allows, I will do so and inform you. Best of luck editing Wikipeida. With regards, AnupamTalk 22:18, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
- Dear Jogibaba, I have read the article you requested me to on "Thathaal." I read your entry on my talk page and understand your concern. It might very well be true that some of the information in the article is erroneous since most of the information there is not referenced. You are welcome to add information to that article and it should be fine as long as the information is referenced. It would be beneficial to reference the information in a similar format as I have done here. You can probably find references for the information through Google Books, among other sources. I hope this helps. With regards, AnupamTalk 20:19, 25 September 2010 (UTC)
Re:Chaudhry Abdur Rehman (need help)
Dear Jogibaba please do write me on tarlai@hotmail.com I need to discuss this article as "talk" area is quite difficult to use. Cheers! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tarlai (talk • contribs) 00:21, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
- Hi tarlai, I am not sure how can I help you, I am also a freelancer like you, joined Wikipedia few months back. What I found wrong with you article about "Chaudhry Abdur Rehman", this does not have any reference which support the article. First two reference are dead one, one can not check what those reference are pointing to. Those other references does not say anything about Chaudhry Abdur Rehman. So if you don't have any online reference, the article is going to be deleted. Another point I noticed anout your article, the article does not appear to be written by a neutral person. This article gives the impression that you are son of Chaudhry Abdur Rehman. You wrote "prominent lawyer, an able leader and a king maker", do you have any online reference to prove that. "He laid the foundations of modern politics", do you have anything to prove this claim. "He always believed in fair politics, and crushing unfairness by force, was viciously murdered in 1987 by some local political opponents". If I try to read between the lines, Chaudhry Sajid Rehman was a leader of one group, he had no problem using force to impose his will on other, and he got killed by his rivals. I don't think wikipedia would find any notability in this case. You have only positive thing to write about Chaudhry Adbur Rehman’s family. This is not a neutral article, I don't think wikipedia would accept it. What I would suggest that you find the online references about Chaudhry Adbur Rehman and re-write the article with more neutral tone. I have written a article about Adil Khan, you can see references which are supporting everything I have written. There is only one claim which I havn't add any reference for , that is singing for Obama's sister. I have seen Adil singing this song on a Norwegian Tv, But i can't use this as a reference that I have seen him myself, I found that song here on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QL2COzEL75k , but it is not allowed to use youtube references, so I am looking for references on other places to support the claim. A norwegain publisher coming with adil's biography, here is the reference to support the claim, http://www.dagbladet.no/2010/06/21/kultur/litteratur/bok/12193842/ (you can use google translater to translate if you like) but I am not going to write anything before the book is in the market. Because , for me Wikipedia is not a personal promotion site, We are writing history for the coming generations, I hope I did not disappoint you. regardsJogibaba (talk) 20:40, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for your detailed reply Jogibaba and you do sound like a levelheaded person who talks some sense and I am in full agreement of whatever you have just mentioned above. Unfortunately I couldn’t find any online references for Chaudhry Abdur Rehman but the article is still based on reality and facts ... and YES tone doesn’t sound neutral at all, that can be fixed ... So how do I deal with such subjects where there are no online references but offline stuff can be available? I would still request to please write me on my personal email … will highly appreciate your time. Cheers! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tarlai (talk • contribs) 04:01, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
- Again, I don´t know what can i do in this situation. One thing seems certain to me that your article would be deleted. Even if everything you have written is "based on reality and facts", still this does not make Chaudhry Abdur Rehman a notable person. A person who is merely a "Chaudhry" of a small village, howcome he is a notable person to that extent that he should have an article about him in Wikipedia. I would suggest you to start editing where you find it needed. Important thing is to contribute. Contribute does not mean just to write articles of your own. One can contribute by editing also. How about take part in the discussion for Thathaal. To me, article about Thathaal is just a crap, all those stories written about Thathaal are are just bullshit. That article is just an essay and nothing to do with the fact. According to my knowledge, Thathaals are Rajput and not Jatt, moreover the right word is Thothal and not Thathaal. Thathaal has nothing to do with Karna of Mahabharata, there is no character in Mahabharata whose name is Raja karan Singh, Karna had nine sons and nobody has the name " Thathoo", All that stories about old and modern history are merely lies, do you think you can contribute there. Regard:Jogibaba (talk) 11:46, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
- If you have offline sources for the Chaudhry Abdur Rehman article (e.g. books or newspapers), cite these by giving the title of the work, the publisher, the author, the date of publication, and page number if appropriate, so that people can look at these and decide whether the subject will get included. See WP:RS and WP:CITE for more information. Christopher Connor (talk) 16:07, 16 July 2010 (UTC)

- Well dear ... if this article is meant to be deleted then let it be ... but Ch Abdul Rehman remains in our regional history ... small village or big empire doesn’t really matter, what matters is your contributions towards your people and community ... and mostly or may be only Thathaals would be interested to know about their Thathaal "baradri" ... anyway about your comments on "Thathaal or Thothal" ... it does not make any difference AT ALL! ... I am a Thathaal and write it as Thathaal not Thothal because my forefathers never knew English before so such spell check is not applied on Thathaal in any case ... the way we pronounce it and write it in Potohari, Punjabi and Urdu, it exactly sounds like Thathaal and not Thothal ... and if you think that the article Thathaal sounds like an essay and is a piece of crap … then why you don’t you put some efforts and write some thing PURE and TRUE yourself ... making comments is always an easy go, isnt it? .. but I do agree on one of your points that Thathaals are Rajputs and not Jatts ... but most of Thathaals write Ch ... that reflects Jatt background ... I dont know why? thanks for your time again ... Cheers! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tarlai (talk • contribs) 12:21, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
File source and copyright licensing problem with File:Adil khan.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Adil khan.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 13:30, 5 August 2010 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. J Milburn (talk) 13:30, 5 August 2010 (UTC)
- Sadly, permission for Wikipedia to use the file is not enough. Instead, to be considered free use, it has to be free for anyone to use. We normally recommend the Creative Commons Attribution ShareAlike 3.0 license as a free use license- if the author of the image is happy to release it under that license and you get an email from him/her saying as much, forward the email to permissions@wikimedia.org and let me know. J Milburn (talk) 16:52, 5 August 2010 (UTC)
- Concerning File:Kjersti Alveberg.jpg, "permission for Wikipedia to use" is not the same as public domain. Again, we would need a free release and an email confirming that release sent to the permissions address. Are you going to try and get that, or should I delete the image? J Milburn (talk) 17:02, 5 August 2010 (UTC)
- There's no "mode" that the images are in. If they do end up deleted, they can be restored by any admin if permission for release is later received. J Milburn (talk) 17:26, 5 August 2010 (UTC)

Re: Adil Thathaal and Deepika Thathaal
Could you please advise that why these two pesrons have been deleted from the prominent Thathaals list? Adil and Deepika are real siblings and their father is a Thathaal and they always use Thathaal as their surname. So there is no point of taking them out of the list ... Cheers! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tarlai (talk • contribs) 06:34, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
As I explained earlier that an English spell check is not applicable on Thathaal. Why not because our ancestors did not know English and they only pronounced it and wrote it in their local text. The way it is pronounced to date is Thathaal and not Thothal. The closest source or script of writing Thathaal is the Urdu script. And in Urdu it is written as "تھتھال - Tha Thaa'L" and not "تھوتہال - Tho Tha'L" (I am not sure if you know Urdu or not). And the point which you raised that Thothal are Rajput and Thathaal are Jatt, is illogical. Because on my birth certificate my caste is written as "تھتھال راجپوت - Thathaal Rajput" and this tradition has been carried forward from our last 15 - 20 generations as we still hold our centuries old family tree which is still up to date. My ancestors used to write their names as Rai (title) and then "Singh" (surname). And they all have been documented as Thathaal Rajputs and not as Thothal Rajputs or Thathaal Jatts. And my advise to you is not to base Thathaals linage on any incorrect assumptions or typo mistakes on some birth ceritifcates from some local union councils. You may want to conduct further reasearch rather than baselining your decisions on Adil Khan's father's birth certifcate etc. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tarlai (talk • contribs) 05:08, 23 August 2010 (UTC)

Hi Jogibaba.
Thanks for the message. I know nothing about that article, all I removed was vandalism/test edits. However, I encourage you to be bold and update the article by ignoring all rules. If you have any problem, feel free to ask. Tommy! [message] 20:22, 25 August 2010 (UTC)
Thothal/Thathaal
Sorry I can't help, I know nothing about the subject. If you can't work things out with the other editors, then you might be able ot get some help at WP:EAR. – ukexpat (talk) 18:38, 31 August 2010 (UTC)
- Since you had edited the article in the early days so I thought that you have any information to share with us about the topic i mentioned. Thanks anyway.Jogibaba (talk) 20:09, 31 August 2010 (UTC)
- I can offer a comment about the title of the article. The current title does not conform to Wikipedia's naming conventions. It should be either Thothal or Thathaal with a redirect from the other name. – ukexpat (talk) 17:22, 1 September 2010 (UTC)
Re: Sabri Khan
When the issues are addressed you can remove them. These maintenance things are just describing what an article is at the moment, for the reader, they are not meant to denegrate authors and should not be perceived negatively. Best regards Hekerui (talk) 20:09, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Sisterhood Online Mixtape
A tag has been placed on Sisterhood Online Mixtape requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a musical recording which does not indicate why its subject is important or significant, and where the artist's article has never existed, has been deleted or is eligible for deletion itself. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for music.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. License tagging for File:Deeyah Presents Sisterhood mixtape.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Deeyah Presents Sisterhood mixtape.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.
For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 20:06, 26 September 2010 (UTC)
File permission problem with File:Deeyah.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Deeyah.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-enwikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-enwikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Diannaa (Talk) 19:06, 3 April 2011 (UTC)

- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included.
You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kelly hi! 13:26, 2 October 2015 (UTC)
