Here's my version of the New Hollywood influence in Tamil cinema, which was prominent from 1973 (Arangetram) to 1987 (Nayakan, Pushpaka Vimana). Feel free to add/make changes.

Notable films

The following are a chronological list of notable New Hollywood influence films that featured in this period.

Actors

Below is a list of actors who figured prominently/made their debuts/made their breakthroughs during this period.

Directors

Below is a list of directors who figured prominently during this period. In my opinion, K. Balachander started the New Hollywood trend with films like Arangetram and so on. His earlier films like Neerkumizhi (1965), Major Chandrakanth (1966), Bama Vijayam (1967), Anubavi Raja Anubavi (1967) and Ethir Neechal (1968) are not taken into consideration. Same goes for C. V. Sridhar's films like Kalyana Parisu (1958), Nenjil Or Aalayam (1962) and Kadhalikka Neramillai (1964).
