Request on 03:56:28, 11 November 2015 for assistance on AfC submission by LW1588

I took your advice and edited the citations, and resubmitted. However another reviewer replied that the person in my article is not notable, need more citations. I am confused with the amount of citations needed to be notable. I check "notability" guidance and believe that the person has the substantial coverage, and won the national art competition, and is a creative professional, meet the notability criteria. Please help me to resolve the matter. Thank you.!LW1588 (talk) 03:56, 11 November 2015 (UTC)LW1588 (talk) 03:56, 11 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi LW1588 - I know (believe me, I know) that it can be confusing when you first start editing. It does get easier. The biggest issue is the formatting of the citations. I've formatted the first one, to give you an example of how to properly format them. The link SwisterTwister and I both gave you, WP:CIT, gives examples of other types of citations (e.g. books, newspapers, etc). If there is an author, you should definitely include them, same with a page number, and a date of publication. If you found it on the web, you should definitely include the web link, for ease of verification.
There are two basic types of citations, those that verify a fact in the article (the first citation which I formatted is an example of that), and those that go to determine notability. The first citation is from an affiliated organization, his employer, so it' invalid for notability purposes, but can definitely be used for verification purposes. Galleries where their work is shown, the artists' own website, commercial sites where they might have their stuff for sale, all are invalid for notability. What is good for notability is in-depth articles from reliable, independent sources about the subject. I hope this helps. Onel5969 TT me 23:11, 11 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Clevedon Hall article

Hi there,

I've made some changes but please can you advise what style changes need to be made? Link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Clevedon_Hall

Thank you!

Jojourneypr (talk) 09:32, 11 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jojourneypr - Nice job. I see that Timtrent has already moved it to the mainspace. Congrats! Onel5969 TT me 23:30, 11 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Onel5969. You may recall assessing this draft some time ago. I have cleaned the copy vio and ask if you have time to check it and see if the draft is ready for main space. Thanks, -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 16:23, 11 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Diannaa - I've been going through the G13 eligible articles looking for stuff like this the last week, and haven't found any, and then you find one I worked on. Go figure. Yup, I feel it's good to go now. Copyvio check didn't reveal any issues, and that was my only problem with moving it to mainspace back in April. Had a slight formatting issue with section headers (fixed now), but other than that, well-sourced, well-structured, meets notability requirements. Do you want to resubmit and ping me and I'll move it? Onel5969 TT me 16:31, 11 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, ready to rock n roll. Thanks a lot, you are awesome. -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 16:34, 11 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

UrbanToronto.ca Draft

Hello Onel5969!

I've updated the Draft:UrbanToronto.ca again and removed a lot of components that could be construed as promotional. Would you mind taking another look at it? Would love your feedback!

Thanks Be McD87 (talk) 17:32, 11 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Be McD87 - The promotional tone is now gone. Nice job. The issue is the notability. Reddit is not a reliable source, and the other 5 are mere mentions, so notability hasn't been established. #2 is a good cite for that fact. And get rid of 3 of the other sources - personally I'd keep the Globe and Mail and the Metro News. But you need at least 3 good in-depth articles about the site from independent sources. Hope this helps. Onel5969 TT me 23:48, 11 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Recent move requests

As part of the cleanup, you added: {{db-move|1=Basque American|2=To make room for page move per Wikipedia:Village pump (policy)#Titles of articles about ethnic groups of the United States}}

to Basque American

so the source and target are the same. While I think I could figure out what you meant, I'm working on handling the other requests, and I will come back to this if you don't reintroduce the corrected template.--S Philbrick(Talk) 22:57, 11 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

===Malaysian Americans=== The template on Malaysian Americans appears to be malformed.--S Philbrick(Talk) 23:02, 11 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Egyptian Americans

The template on Egyptian Americans appears to be malformed.--S Philbrick(Talk) 23:14, 11 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Sphilbrick - Thanks for your patience. Shocked you just didn't hit me with 5 trout. I was doing so many to get them out of the way, I think I've fixed the issues. Sorry to dump all those on you guys. Onel5969 TT me 23:27, 11 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
No fish today :) Almost there, can you check Egyptian Americans and Estonian Americans?--S Philbrick(Talk) 01:05, 12 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
In Estonian, I think "|1=Estonian Americans" should be "|1=Estonian American"?--S Philbrick(Talk) 01:07, 12 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
In Egyptian Americans, you are missing a parameter.--S Philbrick(Talk) 01:08, 12 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, fixed those two as well. Again, thanks for your patience. Onel5969 TT me 02:33, 12 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

regarding a prod deprod

Re: [1]. Removed prods should not be restored BUT "This excludes removals that are clearly not an objection to deletion, such as page blanking, mass removals or obvious vandalism; additionally, tags removed by banned users may also be restored." In this case, there's a consensus on anon's talk page that his was WP:POINT anti-prod vandalism; he has used more than one IP address for that - it's clear this is not AGF deprodding, but someone disrupting the project. Through in this case I agree AfD should be a way to go, but not because of the prod issue, but because of WP:SCHOOLOUTCOMES. PS. I did restore it at [2] per the rationale cited; I'll be reviewing other related cases and seeing where the prod should be restored. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 05:06, 12 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Piotrus - Thanks for the information. I had simply been under the assumption that you could never re-attach a prod tag, even if its removal in bad faith. But the bad faith exception makes perfect sense. Onel5969 TT me 20:06, 12 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello!

I received feedback for my article on Maralou Gray (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Maralou_Gray) from SwisterTwister, who had pinged you on my draft as an interested colleague. I was hoping to get some more clarification in order for the article to be accepted, and hoping you can help me!

A lot of the references we have for Maralou's information are in articles published back in the 1940s-1960s, which of course aren't readily available online but we do have the hard copy clippings. Is that not adequate enough for Wikipedia? If these articles were scanned and uploaded, would that work?

If this isn't an option, would it help if I edited and shortened the article down so that just the information that can be referenced is written? There are several online articles from the Los Angeles Times dating back to the 1980s where she is mentioned and quoted, and that is a verifiable source.

Thank you in advance! BioWriter818 (talk) 06:17, 12 November 2015 (UTC)BioWriter818[reply]

Hi BioWriter818 - There is no requirement that sources be available online. If you do use hard copies, please make sure you include all information: publisher, publication, name of author (if applicable), date of article, page article appeared on, title of article. If it's from a book, include the isbn #. Hope this helps. Onel5969 TT me 20:06, 12 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Onel5969 Great, thank you for the feedback! So just to clarify, do I just reference the hard copies with all that information you specified or do you require that we scan and upload the articles as files? BioWriter818 (talk) 22:23, 12 November 2015 (UTC)BioWriter818[reply]
Hi again BioWriter818 - Yup, use all that information in the cites. Wouldn't know about uploading the files. I'm pinging three helpful admins to see if they know anything about that: Hey there NeilN, Northamerica1000 and MelanieN - any light to shed on the uploading of source material? Onel5969 TT me 23:45, 12 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, do not upload copyrighted source material, please. Just a reference is fine. --NeilN talk to me 03:30, 13 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Onel5969 and NeilN - Thank you both very much, appreciate your quick responses! BioWriter818 (talk) 04:25, 13 November 2015 (UTC)BioWriter818[reply]

Roger Williams

Glad you approve - it seemed the best way to help anyone getting confused in the future! I got here today via the Roger Williams (disambiguation) page on my watchlist, where someone made a strange edit trying to disentangle two versions of RW. I've known that imdb doesn't count as a WP:RS, but this is the first time I've seen such, apparent, confusion there. Happy Editing! PamD 12:22, 12 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

No worries PamD - I do a little bit of work on old actor articles, and when I read the bio on imdb I was intrigued, so I started to dig into his history a bit. This is only the second or third case where I remember imdb getting the birth date incorrect. Anyway, thanks for adding the link (and the note!). Take it easy. Your review for Credible website

Hello Onl5969,

Thank you for your review. I have re-submitted the script such that it lists facts and information about Credible. I am within the Marketing department, and have suggested we create a Wikipedia website because it allows readers to get to know more about out business. As I am in Marketing, using words to illustrate 'success of an organization' is a natural habit. I hope the revisions satisfy your tastes.

Please let me know how to move forward.

Hi Ejcruz - It appears you've resubmitted it already. In my opinion it is still highly promotional, but I won't review it, and give another editor a chance to look it over. Onel5969 TT me 20:40, 12 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
