Aaaaaaaargh

Aaaaaaaargh. What do you think should be done? Qwghlm 23:58, 21 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've fixed the Villa, Bolton and Everton articles. I didn't revert them, I just merged some paragraphs together until the structure was roughly the same as it was before the offending edits. Going through them struck me how bad some of the other Premiership club articles are, both in terms of poor writing and POV, and how they focus on the present so much (Everton's in particular contains a vast running commentary on the current season). Some of them should definitely be nominated for future Improvement Drives.
I've prodded the Liverpool masseur, btw. No way does he meet any sort of notability guideline. Qwghlm 22:52, 23 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Peer review

Hi Oldelpaso, Iam the person that submitted Rugby union at PR, your comments will be very helpful in the near future, as I plan to work on it very soon. Thats why I wanted to ask you if you could take a look at another article on the PR which I submitted as well - the Rugby World Cup - Wikipedia:Peer review/Rugby World Cup, as I noticed you are a main contributer to the FIFA WC, the quality article that was used as an inspiration for the RWC (obviously, I don't want it to be a blow for blow copy of the Football WC article structure, but thats kind of as it stands now, but I will make sure that the appropriate changes are made). But yeah, just if you have a spare moment some time, it would be great to hear your opinion on the article. Cvene64 15:23, 2 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your comments - I responded on the peer review page. Also, I will make a good effort to play down its similarity to the FIFA article, and sorry about the edit summaries, I will do it always from now on. Thanks again. Cvene64 04:04, 3 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Eyal Berkovic

I understand your reasoning for moving Eyal Berkovic even if I disagree with it. Even though he was only with the club for a short time, he made a very important contribution during that time. By your reasoning though, there are many players missing. For example: Neil Young from the sixties, Rodney Marsh from the seventies. CTID Cymruisrael 06:39, 5 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Oldelpaso, and thanks for supporting me on my recent request for adminship! It has succeeded with an unanimous support of 67 votes, so that I am now an administrator. 2006 World Cup articles/cats

Well, I just thought that categorizing 2006 FIFA World Cup (squads) there is a good idea... Actually, there's more to articles in this category than only squads - they can be expanded to something like 2004 European Football Championship - Russia, with qualification info and match results. In this case they should be moved out of Category:2006 FIFA World Cup Squads, and I guess the category should be nominated for deletion instead of renaming. Conscious 19:53, 11 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My nomination is at Wikipedia:Categories for deletion/Log/2006 May 12#Category:2006 FIFA World Cup Squads. Conscious 05:36, 12 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

World Cup 2006 Squads - Guily

Agreed, I was just trying to prevent further discussion on the talk page about it. Apologies if it sounded harsh or as if I was attacking you. That was not my intent. Batman2005 20:52, 15 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

your Robbie Fowler edit message typo

"rouge comma", haha

er yeah, no real message here :P aLii 18:56, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Actually I had come across WP:ROUGE before - I found it from the Wikipedia:Lamest edit wars page! I found my way to that page after finding Mel Etitis to be obnoxious and arrogant. In the talk article above mine on his page was an edit war about Bridge over Troubled Water. Should the "o" of "over" be capitalised or not? Then Wikipedia:Naming conventions#Album titles and band names, and then Talk:I'm with You, which completes the circle back to lame edit wars...
The best part of the story is that Mel Etitis was listed as a Rouge Admin ;) aLii 19:26, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My RFA

Thank you for the nomination. I have accepted it, and it's at WP:RFA now. Conscious 20:38, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I was promoted yesterday with unanimous support, that was impressive! Thanks again. Conscious 07:05, 30 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Seeking an opinion

As an experienced Wikipedian with an interest in football pages and a record of work on a Featured Article, your opinion would be welcomed on a discussion at Talk:Swansea City A.F.C.. After various attempts to add a site with no original content, the site's owner has now recruited someone else to do the same. The question is this: am I correct to delete links to sites which themselves consist of others' copyrighted material and links to other sites? Given the paucity of real content, I have a strong suspicion that the site is operated on a "cash for clicks" basis.

I would like, ultimately, to see the Swansea City A.F.C. Wikipage reach Featured standard, so I am inviting opinions from Wikipedians with sustantial edit histories. Thank you for your time. - Stevecov 14:22, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

FAID Vote

I just need some votes up there. Kingjeff 16:12, 30 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair enough. I removed them accordingly. Mark272 19:18, 1 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure about this so I thought I'd ask you, is this source good enough for wikipedia? Philc TECI 00:14, 2 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Also I was wondering, since I've now added a crticisms section to the article, what do you think is next on the agenda for the article? Philc TECI 00:55, 2 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
yeh, the reference says "But , FIFA ranking have been the subject of considerable debate, ever since its inception in 1993." which is what we neede citation for isn't it. Philc TECI 17:25, 2 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, cheers for your help, I also fixed fixed the missing ref. Philc TECI 11:52, 3 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't be offended, but I assume from your page that you are a Brit. Can you please check that you're using a British English dictionary for spell checking for relevant articles. You introduced the American spelling of manoeuvring (i.e. maneuvering) into the football (soccer) article with this edit - http://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=Football_%28soccer%29&diff=33114342&oldid=33112248 Jooler 01:45, 3 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising

I just got warned for adding 'add commercial links (or links to your own private websites) to Wikipedia'. One of the first things I discovered once I became a journalist is to make sure I have the right information before I start spreading them. As a journalist I've used that site many years and even exchanged a few e-mails with the owner who told me he's running the site on his own and is barely financing it from his owen pocket so that hardly makes it a commercial website. Correct me if I'm wrong, but as an incommercial site that provides accurate info I had every right to add its links to these pages as the sole reason why I wasted my time adding those links was so that other people who seek information could get them fast. So put back those links and don't warn me again unless you know all the facts. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.200.209.120 (talkcontribs)

Source of FIFA rankings

This source specifies the FIFA rankings only for the countries playing in FIFA World Cup 2006. The rankings for June 2006 will not be released by FIFA due to the world cup going on. So the next rankings will come out only in July 2006.

Thanks for Supporting my RfA!

Thanks for supporting my successful Request for Adminship, which passed by a margin of 54/6/1. I hope that I will remain "a pleasure to work with" while fufilling my admin duties. RE: Category- Wikipedians who support Newcastle

Ok, thanks for pointing that out and telling me. Do you reckon it would be okay to have a link to it in a 'See Also' area in the article, or shall I just leave it out completely? --Temers 15:16, 19 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ok- thanks anyway. --Temers 15:49, 19 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Help

Thanks for your offer of help in copy-editing the article to meet these standards, it is much appreciated, and I will be taking it up. The main problem at the moment seems to be the paragraphs imediately under the header overview, which were infortunately, left from the inital incident. I don't quite understand how different it has to be not to be a copyright violation though, as with only one source, it is difficult to lose the structure, without making the order illogical, or so I find. No problem. Actually, it was, seeing as I'm not all that familiar with the inner-workings of categories. I gave myself a pat on the back when I worked it out though. ;) Dudesleeper 18:44, 18 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Premier League FAC

I'll try and work on that too. I removed some earlier that seemed to be simply hearsay, and I'd wager that most of the statements now can be referenced, thought that will take work. Thanks for all the work you've done to get this article into shape! - Pal 19:42, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

World Cup/Camera

Yeah, it has occured to me but unfortunately I don't own a camera! I was thinking of taking a photo of my ticket (I'm at home with family now who do have a camera) - given that there are no images at all in the article - but that wouldn't be for a couple of weeks as I don't have my ticket at the mo... its in a bag at a friend's house. --Robdurbar 19:47, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ha! You know, I totally forgot I had taken that picture. Anyway, a cropped version of the original is now available on the Commons as Image:FA Premier League trophy.jpg - it's a bit blurry but smaller versions should be fine. Enjoy. Qwghlm 23:24, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
