Note the correction by the article's author at the bottom of that page. The proposed citizen rating system is well worth reporting on, but there's no evidence that it's anything to do with Sesame Credit.

@Insertcleverphrasehere: From an edit comment made by another editor: The BBC article clearly states that while a state-sponsored system similar in some ways to Sesame Credit will be mandatory in 2020, that such a system does not yet exist and is not Sesame Credit or affiliated with such. (The BBC article in question is this one.) That's my reading of the situation as well. There's certainly room for writing an article with a title like Proposed Chinese universal citizen rating system, but this isn't it. -- The Anome (talk) 12:58, 25 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

More confusion with citizen rating system

I've removed more material based on this ACLU comment article that conflated this with the proposed citizen rating system. Note the correction by the article's author at the bottom of that page. The proposed citizen rating system is well worth reporting on, but there's no evidence that it's anything to do with Sesame Credit.

As far as I can see, this FT story is the nearest we have to an authoritative source on the proposed Social Credit System. This, and other sources, quote a document entitled "Planning Outline for the Construction of a Social Credit System (2014-2020)", supposedly "State Council Notice concerning Issuance of the Planning Outline for the Construction of a Social Credit System (2014-2020) GF No. (2014)21", but the only online source for is a Wordpress blog post, which does not count as a WP:RS. -- The Anome (talk) 13:46, 26 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
