Natsamrāt (rough translation: The King of Theater) is a 2016 Marathi language film featuring Nana Patekar in the leading role. It is directed by Mahesh Manjrekar and produced by Nana Patekar and Vishwas Joshi under the banner of Great Maratha Entertainment, Gajanan Chitra and Fincraft Media & Entertainment Pvt. Ltd.[3] The film was officially released in India on 1st Jan 2016 to popular and critical acclaim.[4]
Details
The film is the screen adaptation of noted Marathi playwright Kusumagraj’s iconic Marathi play "Natsamrat" which was first staged in 1970. The film also features Vikram Gokhale, Medha Manjrekar, Mrunmayee Deshpande, Sunil Barve, Neha Pendse and Ajit Parab in supporting roles.[5]
The teaser poster of the film was released on 21 October 2015. The official teaser of the film was released on the occasion of Diwali in November 2015.[6][7] The official trailer of the film was released on 4 December 2015. The film is receiving good reviews from the audience since its release.[8]

Release
The film was released on 1 January 2016, which is also the birthday of Nana Patekar.[10] Apart from Maharashtra, ‘Natsamrat’ released in Gujrat, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Delhi, Telangana and West Bengal with nearly 1,600 shows across more than 400 screens in the country daily.[11][12]
Reception
It opened to an overwhelmingly positive response and was very well received by critics and audience alike. [13] The film stood tall to its tagline " Asa nat hone nahi." (There will not an actor like this). Nana Patekar delivered a performance which will be remembered forever as one of his best work as an actor. The film received widespread appreciation for its portrayal of angst of aged veteran theater actor. Film critics praised the movie for acting skills, direction, cinematography and script. Box office
Natsamrat collected ₹10 crore (US$1.2 million)plus in first weekend. It collected ₹22 crore (US$2.6 million) in 10 days.[15][16]
