Copyvio? -- no

This article is a copy of the National Park Service website listed in the References. As a work of US government employees, the text in that website is in the public domain and many of the American Civil War battle articles in Wikipedia were started by verbatim copying from that site. Fair enough, better safe than sorry. Cheers SGGH speak! 23:17, 7 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Only one source

Meridian, Mississippi#Civil War Era contains a reworded description of this battle that contains information from more than one source. Using one source for all the information in an article is not a good idea (Template:onesource); I suggest trying to merge the multi-sourced section with this page. The section also includes an image of Sherman and Polk, the two major commanders in this battle, which would be a good addition to this article. --Dudemanfellabra (talk) 20:16, 27 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I just merged this article with the aforementioned section. I reworded a lot of it and added new sources, so some copy-editing may be necessary. I also added the two pictures, but there's not really a good place for them. Feel free to move them to wherever they fit more. --Dudemanfellabra (talk) 17:25, 22 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Turning East after Vicksburg?

Sherman had already moved East to help Grant in Chattanooga. He then had to move West for the Meridian campaign. 86.154.93.83 (talk) 11:17, 11 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Good source that may be added to the article

This page contains the memoirs of General Sherman himself as he was on his Meridian Campaign. I haven't read them in detail, but there is probably a lot of good information in them. --Dudemanfellabra (talk) 02:58, 3 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
