Universidad de Ciencias Medicas (UCIMED) is a famous medical school located in Costa Rica. UCIMED was founded in 1978 and has had a legacy of excellency in the teachings of medicine. Many American Students choose to attend UCIMED since the price of tutition is low and the education level is comparable to US medical schools. UCIMED also introduced pharmacology as a major in the year 1999. Many students get training at famous pharmaceutical companies located at San Jose.

Medicine at UCIMED

Medicine at UCIMED is an intensive 5 year and a half program. During the first five semester students get a Bachellors in Health Science (Bachiller en Ciencias de la Salud) It is during the fifth semester that students start an intesive training at local Hospital such as San Juan de Dios and Hospital Mexico. After finishing the the eleventh semester students obtain a M.D (Licenciado en Medicina y Cirugía y el Doctorado Profesional en Medicina y Cirugía)
