== One to check? ==

I mentioned it in passing on the talk page, but in my opinion, Royroydeb's 2 GAs don't show any substantive work in 2016.

[[Zesh Rehman]]
This one looks like he's added content, but if you actually compare the revisions, it's taking out a couple of things, and just changing the format of the dates in the cites - clearly not worthy of the points.

[[Darren O'Dea]]
This one, he's just taken out one sentence and formatted a table.

I am sure you have lots to check and I thought these might sneak through because at first glance it looks okay - but they're clearly not, and I thought you'd want to nip it in the bud before he continues on flouting the rules.

Thanks.

WikiCup 2016 is just around the corner...

Hello everyone, and we would like to wish you all a happy holiday season. As you will probably already know, the 2016 WikiCup begins in the new year; there is still time to sign up. There are some changes we'd like to announce before the competition begins.

After two years of serving as WikiCup judge, User:Miyagawa has stepped down as judge. He deserves great thanks and recognition for his dedication and hard work, and for providing necessary transition for a new group of judges in last year's Cup. Joining Christine (User:Figureskatingfan) and Jason (User:Sturmvogel 66) is Andrew (User:Godot13), a very successful WikiCup competitor and expert in Featured Pictures; he won the two previous competitions. This is a strong judging team, and we anticipate lots of enjoyment and good work coming from our 2016 competitors.

We would also like to announce one change in how this year's WikiCup will be run. In the spirit of sportsmanship, Godot13 and Cwmhiraeth have chosen to limit their participation. See here for the announcement and a complete explanation of why. They and the judges feel that it will make for a more exciting, enjoyable, and productive competition.

The discussions/polls concerning the next competition's rules will be closed soon, and rules changes will be made clear on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Scoring and talk pages. The judges are committed to not repeating the confusion that occurred last year and to ensuring that the new rules are both fair and in the best interests of the competition, which is, first and foremost, about improving Wikipedia.

If you have any questions or concerns, the judges can be reached on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, on their talk pages, or by email. We hope you will all join us in trying to make the 2015 WikiCup the most productive and enjoyable yet. You are receiving this message because you are listed on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Your FLC nom

As long as the request doesn't descend into canvassing, I have no issue with asking a couple of trusted editors for reviews. December is always slow at FLC, so I understand that you might need to stimulate some interest in the list. Giants2008 (Talk) 00:09, 23 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Giants2008 (Talk) - Right now it's at 3 supports, should I work on getting another reviewer?-Godot13 (talk) 06:11, 29 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Three supports is often a key threshold for promotion. The biggest problem you have is that myself and PresN, two of the FLC closers, are both recused now that we've supported. @SchroCat:, are you willing to close this one when the time comes? Giants2008 (Talk) 23:06, 29 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, I certainly will. Cheers - SchroCat (talk) 08:07, 30 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Time To Spread Some Happy Holiday Cheer!!
I decorated a special kind of Christmas tree in the spirit of the season.

What's especially nice about the digitized version is that it doesn't need water,

and it won't catch fire.
Wishing you a joyous holiday season...
...and a prosperous New Year!! 🍸🎁 🎉

Season's Greetings

Wishing you a Charlie Brown
Charlie Russell Christmas! 🎄
Best wishes for your Christmas
Is all you get from me
'Cause I ain't no Santa Claus
Don't own no Christmas tree.
But if wishes was health and money
I'd fill your buck-skin poke
Your doctor would go hungry
An' you never would be broke."

POTD notification

Hi Godot, the Educational Series will be running as POTD on the 14th of January. If you want to have a look over the captions, they are available at Template:POTD/2016-01-14/1, Template:POTD/2016-01-14/2, and Template:POTD/2016-01-14/3.

OK, here is one

Hafs- I'm on the road, but expect to have a fast connection on Dec 31 so I'll try to get them down/uploaded then...--Godot13 (talk) 09:15, 30 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • No hurry- it will be fine in a couple of days... The first one it would be nice if Yngvadottir can co-nom it. They worked hard to fix that article ... with you or me or ... all three? (Unless there will be a new row.. ahem). Either way, Yngvadottir should be in the nom. The rest is ours. Hafspajen (talk) 16:40, 30 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hafs and Yngvadottir- Stalheim is ready. Why don't the two of you co-nom. I'm happy to support, but (and, ahem, no new row) I'm not sure how I feel about the majority of support (3 out of the required 5 supports) coming from possible nominators. Please, the two of you should co-nom...--Godot13 (talk) 02:55, 1 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Folks, I'll go ahead and change the image in the article, and I think it should be a featured picture if the Google scan merits it (I have no eye for the quality of reproductions past a certain low point): it's a very important picture in Norway and truly lovely, so much so that I embarrassed everybody by letting out a great shout when I was in a bus and suddenly saw the actual view ... but I don't do featured stuff. Please go ahead without naming me :-) Yngvadottir (talk) 12:34, 1 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
You do it. Yngvadottir wrote it, Godot uploaded it. I support. Hafspajen (talk) 15:58, 13 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Happy New Year 2016!
Did you know ... that back in 1885, Wikipedia editors wrote Good Articles with axes, hammers and chisels?

Thank you for your contributions to this encyclopedia using 21st century technology. I hope you don't get any unneccessary blisters.

Wikicup bot scoring

You realise every DYK is getting assessed at 3x points, right? Adam Cuerden (talk) 10:07, 7 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

WikiCup 2016: Game On!

We are about to enter the second week of the 2016 WikiCup. The most recent player to sign up brings the current total to 101 contestants. Signups close on 5 February. If you’re interested, you can join this year's WikiCup here.

We are aware that in some areas the scoring bot’s numbers are a little bit off (i.e., overly generous) and are working to have that corrected as soon as possible.--MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:04, 7 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a search with the contents of WikiCup/History/2016/Submissions/Liance, and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: Wikipedia:WikiCup/History/2016/Submissions/ZappaOMati. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally trying to rename an article, please see Help:Moving a page for instructions on how to do this without copying and pasting. If you are trying to move or copy content from one article to a different one, please see Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia and be sure you have acknowledged the duplication of material in an edit summary to preserve attribution history.

It is possible that the bot was mistaken and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. CorenSearchBot (talk) 04:51, 21 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
