Aickman wrote well-crafted stories that were "strange" rather than supernatural (though he delved into that too). His stories at their best were unusual, with unusual characters and effective atmosphere. I am writing this on Halloween, of course.[[User:Flake11|Flake11]] —Preceding [[Wikipedia:Signatures|comment]] was added at 13:15, 31 October 2007 (UTC) |

The final sentence of paragraph 4 of the Conservation section is missing a word, but I don't know what word: "Aickman published two nonfiction [_____] on the waterways in 1955." I'm thinking these may be books, but could just as easily be pamphlets, brochures, etc. Can someone confirm the format of these non-fiction items he published in 1955? Aickman's birthdate?
Untitled
Reginald's Contemporary Science Fiction Authors lists Aickman's birthdate as June 27 not June 24. What's the origin of the June 24 date? Alvonruff 17:50, 20 May 2006 (UTC)
- It was added in this edit, by an anonymous user, almost two years ago. I'm changing it to June 27, as found in Reginald, and adding a reference at the bottom. grendel|khan 23:43, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
- GRO index of deaths confirms DOB as 27 June Mayalld 12:33, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
A suggestion
I feel too lazy to do it myself, at the moment, however I would love it if somebody would explain what what makes Aickman a important writer rather than just some dude who won a number of awards. I may well get aroudn to doing this myself, however, I thought I would point out this signficant lack. ***Ria777 00:05, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
