These new pics came from www.pokemonelite2000.com, please credit this site please!!!
- What is this? Advertising your favourite site by giving them source for images? Pokebeach.com had the first cleaned-up Sugimori images up, why are we messing around? --ArrEmmDee 18:37, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

Pokémon grammar?
The first sentence of the article is:
The Pachirisu (パチリス) is one of the Template:Pokenum fictional species of Pokémon creatures from the multi-billion-dollar Pokémon media franchise – a collection of video games, anime, manga, books, trading cards and other media, created by Satoshi Tajiri.
Is there any reason in the style guide for having "the" before Pachirisu's name? This does not seem right. --Libertyernie2 22:37, 15 July 2006 (UTC)
- Pachirisu is the name of species. It's like "The sheep is one of the...", you wouldn't burst in saying "Sheep is one of the...". Highway Batman! 22:40, 15 July 2006 (UTC)
- But within the context of Pokémon, a species' name is never preceded by an article in reference to its kind. For instance, "MEGANIUM's breath has the power to revive dead grass and plants..." (Meganium's Fire Red Pokédex entry) --GregE 02:02, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
- But that's referring to the breath of a single Pokémon. When we are talking an article we're referring to them 'ALL. Highway Batman! 10:12, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
- In that case, it should say "The Pachirisu are"... or am I wrong?--Libertyernie2 16:19, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
- The species name isn't preceded by "the" in any of the current 386 articles on Pokémon. So either we remove "the" from this and the other new articles, or add it to the old ones. --Anonymous —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 69.183.88.33 (talk • contribs) .
- It's used in scores of them. Highway Batman! 12:30, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
- (re-indent) Please see [1] and discuss there. "Bulbasaur are" (or whatever other Pokémon) sounds good to me, flows better and is more consistent with the rest of the article. —Celestianpower háblame 17:53, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
- It isn't an actual animal. That's why we say "The sheep..." instead of "Sheep...". In the animé's Pokédex, not one Pokémon has ever had the word "the" placed before the species name. Even when one of the characters talks about a species of Pokémon, they never say "The Bellossom are Pokémon that are able to summon the sun during cloudy days." or something along the lines of that. They instead say "Bellossom are Pokémon that are blah-blah...". In all the games, Red/Blue/Yellow to Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald, not once have I ever seen "the" before the species name. The only place it is found in a Pokédex entry is the species a Pokémon is. For example: "Meowth, the Scratch Cat Pokémon." I firmly believe that "the" is not supposed to be where it has been placed. It should be "Pachirisu... ", not "The Pachirisu...". --User:Floramage.
- It's at are not the. And the Clefairy Pokédex entry reads:
- On every night of a full moon, groups of this Pokémon come out to play. When dawn arrives, THE tired Clefairy return to their quiet mountain retreats and go to sleep nestled up against each other.
- So the game does refer to Pokémon as plurals. Highway Return to Oz... 07:02, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
- That's just because they used the adjective "tired" before the word "Clefairy".
- Snubbul's Emerald Pokédex entry:
By baring its fangs and making a scary face, it sends smaller POKéMON scurrying in terror. THE SNUBBULL does seem a little sad at making its foes flee.
I rest my case. -- PinkDeoxys 00:13, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
- Well well! It seems even the authorities who create Pokemon aren't fully consistent themselves. I'd say that deepens the issue further... Erik the Appreciator 20:23, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
- I think it was just an error. One use of "the" vs. a few thousand times it was excluded.
#441 infobox help
Since serebii says this guy is #55 in the shinou dex, I basically tried to copy off of the Mukkuru infobox, since it's number 396 national and #10 shinou. This would make pachirisu 441 national, but it's not showing in the infobox. Can someone help me? Toastypk 05:55, 19 August 2006 (UTC)
