Ranini Cundasawmy (born 19 May 1984) is a Mauritian Muay Thai, Savate fighter, and winner of several national championships.[2]

Early life

Cundasawmy was born on 19 May 1984[3] at Victoria Hospital on Mauritius Island. From 1984 - 1994 she lived at Pop Henessy Beau Bassin, with 3 brothers and 2 sisters, Jean Francois, Rajen, Rajesh, Rajini and Annais, her Father Mario and mother Premila.[4]

She attended the Pre Primary and Primary School of Maingard at Beau Bassin then secondary school of villes soeurs at beau bassin at the age of 16 she left villes soeurs secondary school to continue her studies at St Bartholomew's et Port-Louis.

After HSC she wanted to continue her studies at the University of Mauritius but unfortunately her family was not able to afford the cost for her to continue her studies.

When she quit school she started to practice kickboxing and worked as a pharmacy helper. She practice kickboxing for one year. In 2002 she went to work as chat animator at Toolink Crm Ltd, where she met her future husband Cundasawmy Louis Patrick. They began to practice Boxe Française Savate together, became good friends and then married in 2008. Patrick is now both her coach and husband. In 2008 they both quit their jobs at Toolink Crm and started their own business DJP Productions.[5]

Sports career

In 2005 she begin to participate to Boxe Française Savate tournament.

In 2006 she won the Jeux de l'ouest female champion [6] Title in boxe française savate.[2]

2007 - 2010 Cundasawmy's boxing club BMA Sports faced some difficulties, with no location for training and group was training on the street.

The Club she in which trains found a location at Social Welfare Centre Bambous. In Year 2010 Ranini and Patrick Cundasawmy[1] began training in Muay Thai.

In 2011 she founded the BMA Female Team. She attend several Muay Thai Competitions and Boxe Française between 2010 and 2012.

In 2012 she participated in the first ever mixed Muay Thai fight between a male and female in Mauritius, and won.[7]

In 2013, she was a Gold Medalist in the Mauritius Taekwondo Championship on her first participation, along with the title of La Croche Mauritius Champion on her first participation[10] and she aksi kept her Muay Thai Champion title.

She was the Mauritius National Muay Thai Female Champion 2013.[11][12]

28 September 2013 she won the first Mauritian Muay Thai Female Championship Belt in an open female category.[13][14]

11 May 2014 Ranini win the *Indian Ocean Croche Championship 2014 [15]

October 2014 Ranini win the bronze medal at the World Championship of Boxe Française Savate Assault in Rome under the coaching of his husband Cundasawmy Louis Patrick [16][17][18]

Again in 2015 Ranini was the Mauritius national Muay Thai champion.[3]
