On 21 Aug 1566, Francesco Rusticucci was appointed during the papacy of Pope Pius V as Bishop of Venosa.[1] On 21 Sep 1566, he was consecrated bishop by Scipione Rebiba, Cardinal-Priest of Sant'Anastasia, with Giulio Antonio Santorio, Archbishop of Santa Severina, and Carlo Grassi, Bishop of Corneto (Tarquinia) e Montefiascone, serving as co-consecrators.[1] On 31 Jan 1567, he was appointed during the papacy of Pope Pius V as Bishop of Fano.[1] He served as Bishop of Fano until his death in 1587.[1] While bishop, he was the principal co-consecrator of Alessandro Mazza, [Bishop of Fossombrone]] (1569); Aurelio Griani, [Bishop of Lettere (-Gragnano)]] (1570); Giovanni Domenico Rebiba, [Bishop of Ortona]] (1570); Girolamo Rusticucci, Bishop of Senigallia (1570); Carlo Montigli, Archbishop of Amalfi (1570); Lelio Morelli, Bishop of Capaccio (1586); and Bonaventura Furlani, Bishop of Alatri (1586).[1]
