The story begins by describing the modern world and how it has been stripped of imagination and belief in magic. It then describes a man of name or abode unknown, typical to that of dreamer; suffice to say he lived in a dull and ugly city. It then goes on to describe how every night the man would from his window gaze upon the stars, this he would continue to do for many years, over time he would come to observe secret vistas of which no normal person would suspect. Until one night the gulf between his world and that of the stars was bridged and thus his mind ascended from his body out unto the boundless cosmos.
