As a psychiatris in Edinburgh, Sutherland undertook a Traininf analysis with [[W. R. D. Fairbairn]], before moving to London to become medical director of the Tavistick from 1947-68. He published a number of articles on pychoanalytic subjects, from to group therapy, both singly and co-authored.

Among the colleagues he worked with, and whose careers he fostered were [[Charles Rycroft]] and [[R. D. Laing]].

J. D. Sutherland [John/Jock] (1905-1991) was an British psychoanalyst and theorist notable for his role as Medical Director of the Tavistock Clinic

Life and career

As a psychiatris in Edinburgh, Sutherland undertook a Traininf analysis with W. R. D. Fairbairn, before moving to London to become medical director of the Tavistick from 1947-68. He published a number of articles on pychoanalytic subjects, from to group therapy, both singly and co-authored.

Among the colleagues he worked with, and whose careers he fostered were Charles Rycroft and R. D. Laing.
