It has 300 rooms, including the suite which won the 2014 World Travel Awards Netherlands' Leading Hotel Suite award.[1] There is also a spa.
Dining
There are four restaurants that have all been awarded by Michelin. The Ciel Bleu Restaurant, awarded two Michelin stars,[2] is located on the 23rd floor and offers a panoramic view over Amsterdam. Fodors says it is "resolutely for those with chubby pocketbooks and expansive palates".[3] At the Chef’s Table you can get a personal view of the chef and kitchen brigade at work. There are international specialties at the Serre Restaurant – inspired by Ciel Bleu. In summer, it offers a terrace on the Amstel Canal. There are also two Japanese restaurants: the traditional Yamazato Restaurant was awarded one Michelin star and praised for "meticulous and friendly service".[4] Teppanyaki Restaurant Sazanka serves teppanyaki cookery. The Taste of Okura cooking studio offers instruction in Japanese cookery.
Reviews
Lonely Planet praises its views, restaurants, and spa.[5] Fodors also praises the "dazzling" dining options.[6] Time Out characterises its decor as "very smart" and "masculine", aimed at "captains of industry".[7]
The World Travel Awards awarded it 2010 Netherlands' Leading Business Hotel and 2014 Netherlands' Leading Hotel Suite.[8]
Media appearances
The hotel was used as a setting for Cheech & Chong's 1983 film, Still Smokin.[9]
