Voonik is an online Indian stylist-handpicked apparel store, which helps users choose the right clothes for any occasion. Voonik has a team of stylists with vast amount of experience in the fashion industry. Voonik helps to pick the right set of clothes based on various parameters such as skin tone, body type, height, occasion etc.[1] Voonik has launched its app on both Android and iOS to provide the experience for users on the go.[2][3] At present, the service is offered to women only.[4]

History

Voonik was founded in 2013 by Sujayath Ali and Navaneetha Krishnan.[5] Sujayath is an ISB alumnus and has worked with Visa and Amazon. Navaneetha has been involved with startups for several years, having worked at Zoho, Aryaka and Freshdesk.[6] Voonik is headquartered in Bangalore and is currently one of India’s fastest growing fashion shopping apps for women.[7]

Profile

Voonik launched its mobile app in 2014 which grew to 1Million plus downloads and recently achieved a good rating of 4.2 on the Google Play Store.[8] Voonik raised USD 5 million in series of funding from Sequoia Capital and Seedfund.[9] Previously they had raised a 2.5 Cr from Seedfund which lead to the growth[10][11] In August 2015, Voonik acqui - hired TrialKart, a mobile platform that provides virtual dressing room experience to shoppers while shopping. The shift helped Voonik improve on image reading and deep learning capabilities that are core for personalisation. Voonik also, acqui-hired Getsty, a curator of personalised fashion for men.[12][13] The company is now set to launch a men’s fashion app and this move helps them speed up the process and set up this new division.

Marketing Campaign

Voonik claims that over 15,00,000 products from more than 5500 stores including top online stores and 3000 brands are available to users on the Voonik app.[14] In June 2015,Voonik had secured USD 5 million in Series A funding from Sequoia Capital and Seedfund/[15] [16] Voonik was most recently in the news for its TV ad campaign featuring popular Bollywood director, Farah Khan where it emphasised on the pleasures of being fashionable every day.[17] Voonik also partnered with the recent Bollywood blockbuster Fitoor which was a huge hit.
