Hamble Community Sports College is the only Secondary School in Hamble-le-Rice; the age of the pupils range from 11-16, and has no Sixth Form.


The School was visited by OFSTED in November 2001, where the quality of teaching recieved an overall "good" for both Years 7 - 9 and 10 - 11. Since then a number of renovations have taken place, increasing the facilitys, and ultimately earning the school it's Sports College status, climaxing with the opening of the Sports Complex in 2002. Recent site improvements include a Gymnastics Complex (Opened in 2006), a dedicated Humanities (History, Religious Education and Geography) block, Renovation to the Technology, Music and Drama buildings.

Future Plans


The College Improvement Plan has five key strategic priorities aimed at raising levels of student attainment and preparing our young people for responsible adulthood. These are:

  • To maintain the focus on improving teaching and learning in a culture of celebrating success.
  • To develop effective leadership and strengthen staff teams in order that all staff understand their roles and responsibilities.
  • To further develop 'School Self Evaluation' in order to improve the quality of teaching and learning.
  • To further develop the use of ICT in order to improve the quality of teaching and learning.
  • To further develop the college as a Centre of Excellence in Sport and Community Activities.
