I previously worked in financial aid at [http://slu.edu Saint Louis University] as a way to fund my higher education. After completing my Master’s degree in May 2009 and not knowing what to do with “all my free time,” I learned how to ride motorcycles, taking the [https://www.msf-usa.org MSF course], and I started [http://stlpetrescue.org St. Louis Pet Rescue], a non-profit pet rescue. I am immensely proud of the people who have chosen to join me in this cause. A couple of years later in the summer of 2011, I started pursing my Ph.D. In August 2012, I was offered a full tuition scholarship and position with the School of Education at SLU. My name is Jackie Koerner. I have been a long time consumer of wiki content, but not a contributor. I tried editing in the past, but did not have a positive experience. Now that I am finishing my Ph.D., and have more free time, I figured I would give it another try!
I am a strong believer in free quality knowledge for everyone. Education is a right, but sadly is still a privilege for so many. I love focusing on the at-risk and under-served populations in my research. My dissertation title is “A Phenomenological Study of the Experiences of Students with Disabilities during Higher Education.” I loved finding out about their personal experiences in higher education.
I previously worked in financial aid at Saint Louis University as a way to fund my higher education. After completing my Master’s degree in May 2009 and not knowing what to do with “all my free time,” I learned how to ride motorcycles, taking the MSF course, and I started St. Louis Pet Rescue, a non-profit pet rescue. I am immensely proud of the people who have chosen to join me in this cause. A couple of years later in the summer of 2011, I started pursing my Ph.D. In August 2012, I was offered a full tuition scholarship and position with the School of Education at SLU. This generous opportunity helped me focus on my education and gain rich experience.
When not tackling education questions, you can find me rescuing furry friends, at the gym, or in a suburb of St. Louis where I live with my husband, daughters, and clan/flock/pack of rescued pets.
