Eric Leach (born April 19, 1965) is an American singer, songwriter, and guitar player and best known as the lead singer of Symbol Six. He was also the singer for Stalin featuring Izzy Stradlin and Shanghai.[1][2] He released an acoustic solo album Perfect Life in 2016.[3]

Career

In 1982, they self-titled EP Symbol Six, on Posh Boy Records,[4] was named a top pick by Billboard Magazine "Full of sound and fury is SYMBOL SIX, a new five-man band from Southern California. They play the four songs here with punk exuberance, keeping everything simple but with high excitement quotient".[5]

Art direction

Leach also worked with Lyor Cohen and the East Coast/West Coast Hip hop music community as graffiti artist and art director creating custom logos, tour backdrop murals and video set design for Run–D.M.C. & Beastie Boys Raising Hell tour, Jermaine Jackson, MC Hammer, Ice-T at the Los Angeles hip hop club, Radiotron, and Paula Abdul's Straight Up video.

In 1988, he left the world of music and attended the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California and earned his bachelor's degree in Fine Arts. Since February 22, 2005 Leach has held a US Patent for a transporter of bases for baseball and softball games.[6]

2010 - Current

In 2010, all the original members of Symbol Six decided to get back together and released their self produced album, Monsters 11 on Symbol Six Music.[7] Donny Brooks was soon replaced by Evan Shanks (Entropy) on bass and Mark Conway was replaced by Tony Fate (The Bellrays, the Grey Spikes) in 2011.[8] In 2012, Dr. Strange Records re-released their self-titled EP augmented with demo tracks and a live recording.[9] In 2013, released two split EPs with Fang (band) and Rikk Agnew.[10][11] In 2014 their third studio album, Dirtyland appeared.[12] In 2016, Leach released a digital-only album Perfect Life of acoustic songs.[13]

Films

In 1982, Leach and Symbol Six were interviewed and performed in the documentary The Slog Movie shot and directed by Dave Markey.[14]
