The first version of the accounting software was launched as an MS-DOS application, and was called Tally 3.0. It had only basic accounting functions, and required predefined commands to run.[1] It was known as the first no-accounting codes package, a feature that made it easy for most people to use.Cite error: A <ref>

In February 2006, Tally launched Tally 8.1, a multi-lingual version.[2]
In February 2014, the company released Tally.ERP 9, with features designed to meet Indian value-added taxation (VAT) and banking requirements.[3]
In 2015, the company launched a program called Vriddhi to certify and classify its business partners.[4]
Products
Tally's main product is its Enterprise Resource Planning Software called ERP 9 Series A, which also come in a server version Tally.Server 9, which is at Release 4.8 as of June 2016. The software handles Local Body Tax (LBT) formats, and performs interest calculations based on reconciliation dates. It also accommodates transaction types like ATM cards and Electronic Clearing Service (ECS).[3]
