However, due to production difficulties, the song was delayed until the summer.[8] The song was finally released on July 14, 2016, on to the iTunes Store, for digital download.[9]

Make Me was met with general acclaim from critics, whom praised Britney's return to her old music style.
Music video
The music video is directed by David LaChapelle who previously directed the video for Spears' 2004 single "Everytime" and began filming on June 2, 2016.[10]
