Controversy
The awards stirred controversy as family and fans of the year's Choice Music Web Star, Christina Grimmie, expressed their disappointment that the show did not mention Grimmie, especially during the #StoptheViolence tribute, which honored the family members of teens who died as a result of violence.[9][10]
