Alif Ailan(Urdu:الف اعلان); is a nonprofit organization working in the field of education in Pakistan since 2013.Launched by a team of enthusiastic media and communications specialists,the program seeks to highlight education on priority bases in Pakistan and aware the masses about the importance of education.[1]It runs campaigns in print, on radio and television, and on social media for awareness of the masses about education.The program conduct seminars, surveys, research and district ranking in education.It also monitor the performance of member of the parliament in education sector in their constituencies.

Working in the four provinces of Pakistan including Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and Federally Administered Tribal Areas,Alif Ailan identify the week spots in education through its research and thus assisting decision makers to overcome such problems.[1]

Contributions

Alif Ailaan addresses the educational crisis in Pakistan and suggest measure to overcome such weaknesses.Through their research and data compilation, they assist decision makers to adopt necessary measures.Funded by UK Department for International Development, the organization also provide grant support to civil society organisations working for educational reforms and fund research on issues related to education in Pakistan.[1]

Alif Ailaan also releases District Education Rankings for all districts of Pakistan on the basis of its research .The research examine the state of education in the country’s 148 districts and agencies and identify the weak spots in education.According to District Education Rankings 2013,the Punjab was on the top while Baluchistan falls in the bottom.No districts of the Sindh could find a place among top 50. Alif Ailaan also gauge the performance of every MNA on the bases of educational performance in their respective constituencies.They are assessed against four indicators for education – Gender parity,school facilities, student to teacher ratio and retention.[1][5]

Enrollment campaign

Alif Ailan also arrange enrollment drive with the partnership of the provincial Governments in every district to encourage communities to enroll all their children in school.[6]
