MMO Addiction is a relatively new term in the online vernacular. The phrase is often used to describe the addiction to MMO (Massively Multiplayer Online) games.

MMO games, being online in nature, and requiring some modicum of effort to procure any progress, usually result in the hapless person finding more and more time being devoted to the MMO that they are currently playing. Often the MMO in question is an MMORPG, such as World of Warcraft.

More and more time is spent on the game, and their self image becomes affected, often to a dangerous degree. Time spent away from the MMO which they are addicted to is often spent, depending on the degree of the addiction, trying to engage in other hobbies, complaining about not playing, or, in a severe case, trying in any manner to get to a computer so they can play the MMO to which they are addicted.
