::::::I will leave your most recent question alone, as that is a question for someone more familiar with our policies (such as an administrator like Huon) to answer. However, I would suggest that, to become a bit more familiar with how citing sources and adding content (along with some other stuff) works, you set aside about an hour and try out The Wikipedia Adventure. I've had a registered account for about five years, and, when I took The Wikipedia Adventure recently, I still learned a couple of new things. (Also, if my English seems sloppy, I apologize. I'm extremely tired at the moment.) -- Gestrid (talk) 07:25, 19 August 2016 (UTC)

Welcome

Welcome!

Hello, Yojunemeow, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one of your contributions does not conform to Wikipedia's Neutral Point of View policy (NPOV). Wikipedia articles should refer only to facts and interpretations that have been stated in print or on reputable websites or other forms of media.

There's a page about the NPOV policy that has tips on how to effectively write about disparate points of view without compromising the NPOV status of the article as a whole. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type helpme on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Help me!

Hi. I originally created this account when I was 12. I was semi-active for a while, and very clueless and immature. I re-discovered my nearly forgotten account when I was searching for names I used to go by online for cringe-inducing old posts and stuff to exchange with my friend. I found a talk page discussing a strange edit I made to the SpongeBob SquarePants (character) page. They said none of my few edits looked constructive, and might be intentional vandalism. I looked at my old edits. None of them were intentional vandalism(it was all stuff I thought was true). But I realize that I had no idea what I was doing or how this worked back then. I want to be able to have a good reputation here. I still don't know much about adding stuff, and doing it right. I just made two edits. One was a very minor edit. But I didn't check off the 'minor edit' box, because I didn't notice it. I also didn't add notes about my edits, I know I should have. The other edit was a re-adding of the information I had put on the SpongeBob SquarePants (character) page. This time worded a lot better to be more verifiable. But I still don't know how I would properly cite it, since it seems to be very obscure trivia. Could someone help me get good at this? Thanks. I don't want to get banned, especially over my stupid, really old stuff.Yojunemeow (talk) 18:57, 17 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

See Wikipedia:Citing sources, and WP:RS. ThePlatypusofDoom (talk) 22:42, 17 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
If you cannot find published sources for some piece of trivia, it shouldn't be put on Wikipedia. If no reliable source has bothered to write about it, it's probably not all that significant in the first place. Huon (talk) 22:45, 17 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I just re-asked this whole thing on ThePlatypusofDoom's page. Should I just go ahead and remove the line I added to the Spongebob page now? Yojunemeow (talk) 22:58, 17 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Wait. I'm really confused by this whole thing. I thought ThePlatypusofDoom was asking me to see their talk page. Should I go and delete my question from there fast?Yojunemeow (talk) 23:00, 17 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
You already removed the duplicate question. Regarding the content you added to the SpongeBob SquarePants (character) article, I have reverted it because it was not backed up by a reliable source, so there's nothing to be done there unless you know of a reference that confirms those details. I will leave your most recent question alone, as that is a question for someone more familiar with our policies (such as an administrator like Huon) to answer. I'm extremely tired at the moment.) -- Gestrid (talk) 07:25, 19 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
