Re: Clean Up

The article has been cleaned as suggested by removing the mini pics, also removed the subsection of 'coutnry side' which probably is more appropriate in the District section. Also added the 'Hindi' heading in the beginning. Everyone's contribution is greatly appreciated to improve this article. There may still be some info. related to District as well, but that as much important to the City as to the district. If any more clean up is needed, please do step by step, than massive cleanup which might put the article with inconsistencies Gnt (talk) 18:36, 13 May 2010 (UTC).[reply]

Clean Up

The article had a lot of information that had no business being in the Guntur city article. Info here needs to be relevant, substantiated and concise. My edit has been patterned on the Mysore article, a featured article. Please take a neutral opinion on the edit before reverting. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Abdaal (talkcontribs) 06:03, 30 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The tiny pictures make the whole article look ridiculous. Plus they are totally irrelevant. Do upload pictures of Brodipet or the R Agraharam temple if you wish to because the others are all poorly taken. Also the Hindi name may be added later as I inadvertently deleted it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Abdaal (talkcontribs) 06:06, 30 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Removed a lot of stuff that would be better placed in the Guntur district article. Also deleted irrelevant pictures and wikified the entire article. Would be glad if more references could be provided. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Abdaal (talkcontribs) 09:37, 26 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Guntur as Capital city for Andhra Pradesh

Please add few more points which strengthen the voice of Capital city. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Yarrakishore (talkcontribs) 10:39, 11 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Bhattiprolu

Dear Gnt, Please check up the name 'Pratipala Putra'. I think it was Pratipalapura.

District information

This article has lot of district related information. We have to move that stuff to Guntur District and keep only city history and information here. Mlpkr 13:08, 14 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, during my reading of the article, I found huge tracts of information about the district here. AltruismTo talk 05:40, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Few sources

Please include credible sources for the facts, either reference books or online resources. Thank You. --AltruismTo talk 05:41, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Request for full-protection

It is suggested that this article be semi-protected. This is due to the unnecessary and unwarranted changes made, frequently, by some users. Thanking You, AltruismTo talk 11:41, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Improvement

The article can be further improved by pruning. I agree lots of material can be moved to Guntur district. Is it necessary to place mini-photographs in the midst of the text? I feel it distracts a reader. Placing the pictures in the margins is fine. The article has the potential to become one of the best Wiki articles. Kumarrao 13:35, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it distracts the reader. Images could be kept separate? Could somebody help? Thanking You, AltruismTo talk 10:53, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Further Improvement

Thanks to many enthusiastic Gunturians the article has become very informative. However, it needs tidying up.Kumarrao 14:44, 28 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Clean Up and page issues

The images have been uploaded in genuine match with events/buildings/locactions in Guntur City after verification till date. The improvements in article(Grammer,Pronounciation and tone) could be verfied/modified gradually upon user interest and there on.Thank you! 04 December 2014 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bvm9999 (talkcontribs) 05:15, 4 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Tourism and corrections in other sections

The tourism section is mostly related to the district than to the city. Help in improving it. Beaches are in guntur district but not relates to the city. Multiplexes is mentioned in entertainment section but why again "Inox" which is also a multiplex. Even rythu bazars, super markets are all common in every city. I have corrected certain local language speelings like "dosakaya" to cucumber, "seetaphal" to custard apple, "sapota" to Sapodilla. Please use english names as this page will be viewed by users other than the locals also too. Can write local pronunciation in brackets if needed. Vin09 (talk) 03:56, 10 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You have good point on Guntur article that the Local cuisine contains things like KFC. So why don't you make a subsection called International/National Cuisine and things like KFC and related pictures. Also please make sure you don't yank the whole sub sections. Please add more text and where related and if possible add more quality pictures. The 'greater guntur montage' picture in the beginning looks very poor quality. Regarding the Tourism, the district tourism features are related to the city as well, as the city scape is changing, limits are changing. The city folks and nearby people visit these places so it is important that these places are mentioned in city article, that is why they are mentioned as city, rural, district etc. Your help in improving the 'Guntur' article is greatly appreciated. Gnt

Area and population

The area was updated as 168.41 per this reference and the population was increased by merging the surrounding 10 villages into corporation as per this G.O. Hence, the population was increased to 743,354 as per 2011 census.--Vin09(talk) 12:03, 22 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

AAIIMS

The AIIMS medical campus planned at Mangalagiri of Guntur district. Mentioning the info in this page is not suitable, but it can be suitable to be written in Guntur district page. The city is separated by at least 25 kms. and is totally in another town (municipality) limit. Let's wait see what others views are? @Arjayay, Imahesh3847, and Kautilya3:--Vin09(talk) 12:27, 22 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Mangalagiri comes under Vijayawada UA, so it should not be included in Guntur--Imahesh3847 (talk) 03:59, 23 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Agree - should not be included - Mangalagiri mandal is not adjacent to Guntur mandal. Appears to be an attempt to claim credit by association with something being built elsewhere. - Arjayay (talk) 10:10, 23 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The AIIMS was sanctioned for Guntur region during the bifurcation plan. The reference was given in the AIIMS article itself. Mentioning AIIMS in the city article is important, relevant and needed. It can be mentioned as nearby as User:Vin09 suggested. Gnt (talk) 13:21, 23 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Gnt: I've not suggested in that way. It is in Vijayawada urban agglomeration as said by @Imahesh3847: and totally in another town. It's like adding Mangalagiri railway station in Guntur city page. User:SpacemanSpiff also suggested, please check User_talk:SpacemanSpiff#Info_needed.--Vin09(talk) 13:40, 23 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
This article is solely about the city of Guntur itself, not Guntur mandal, not Guntur district, not Guntur revenue division - and we don't have an article on "Guntar region", however that may be defined. Each of these four Guntur-related articles covers specific areas, and the content of each article needs to be restricted to that specific area, not somewhere else.
AIIMS is planned in Mangalagiri, which is in Vijayawada, the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region, and also in both Guntur district, and Guntur revenue division, but Mangalagiri is not in Guntur mandal, nor Guntur. This clearly defines which articles it should be included in, and excluded from, so it should NOT be in this article. - Arjayay (talk) 14:01, 23 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Mangalagiri is not part of Vijayawada. This seems like political and deliberate statement. That is completely wrong information given above and distracting the discussion. It is part of Guntur District and there is relation and vicinity to Guntur city and as I mentioned the AIIMS is meant and given for Guntur during bifurcation and reference link in the AIIMS site itself says that. Due to space availability and constraints it is located outside the Guntur City. So mentioning AIIMS in Guntur City article is very relevant and important. Gnt (talk) 14:29, 26 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Gnt: No deliberate statements in wiki. Wiki follows only references, kindly check Vijayawada UA Reference page 37. It might be in Guntur district but a part of Vijayawada UA like how Hyderabad has various districts in it. Also, your reference of yahoo no where mentions it as city of Guntur, but it is district as Mangalagiri is in Guntur district. Space availability and all those things are not required, wiki needs what the present location is and where it is located per latest reference, also please note it is not outside the city, it separated by atleast 25kms. Please read the rules WP:POV and WP:IMRIGHT.--Vin09(talk) 07:52, 27 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
