Chi Eridani is a binary star[4] in the constellation Hydra. Its apparent magnitude is 3.70.[2] Located around 17.85 parsecs (58.2 ly) distant,[1] the primary is a subgiant of spectral type G8IV,[3] a star that has used up its core hydrogen and has begun to expand.
