Malla-Yuddha, literally means fighter war. Malla meaning ‘fighter. Yuddha meaning 'war'. Joseph Alter offers "wrestling combat" as a literal translation.[1] An alternative translation is "fighter war".

Generally the Indian wrestling can be divided into two categories. The malla krida and the mallayuddha. Malla krida is the sports version while mallayuddha is the real lethal one. According to the techniques and methodology used, the wrestling is of four types. Bhimaseni, Hanumanthee, Jambuvanthee, and Jarasandhee.
