The Shadow Over Innsmouth

The biggest tip-off is the villagers having the "Astaroth Look;" in the novella, it's the "Innsmouth Look." Also, the story involves weird village cultists, some of whom appear humans, others degenerate monsters, who pursue the protagonist through the town streets at night. Ending

I have always felt that the ending of the film (where Lila is singing in the church) is a flashback. I think if viewed in this context, it represents the innocence of Lila, which has now been lost.
