I have always felt that the ending of the film (where Lila is singing in the church) is a flashback. I think if viewed in this context, it represents the innocence of Lila, which has now been lost. I edited the synopsis to at least include this (a flashback) as a possibility.

The Shadow Over Innsmouth

The plot of this movie is obviously based in large part on the Lovecraft story The Shadow Over Innsmouth. I don't have the drive to add that to the article, but someone should. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 205.144.100.200 (talk) 16:29, 27 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Interesting. I don't remember the story, but if you can find any reliable sources that make the connection, please post them here. Perhaps one of your fellow editors will find the drive. Rivertorch (talk) 17:48, 27 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The biggest tip-off is the villagers having the "Astaroth Look;" in the novella, it's the "Innsmouth Look." Also, the story involves weird village cultists, some of whom appear humans, others degenerate monsters, who pursue the protagonist through the town streets at night. Just take a look at the Wikipedia article, or read the novella (not too long and a great read) and the inspiration is obvious.205.144.100.200 (talk) 17:18, 27 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I believe you, but we still need a reliable source to say it in the article. Rivertorch (talk) 05:19, 28 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Ahh, I understand you now. I can't say it's likely that I'll ever come upon a reliable source describing the inspiration behind a crappy old vampire movie, but I'll keep an eye out :)205.144.100.200 (talk) 17:51, 28 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Cool! You never know; such connections are discussed in books and essays from time to time. Rivertorch (talk) 18:13, 28 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Ending

I have always felt that the ending of the film (where Lila is singing in the church) is a flashback. I think if viewed in this context, it represents the innocence of Lila, which has now been lost. I edited the synopsis to at least include this (a flashback) as a possibility. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.12.220.250 (talk) 02:09, 24 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
