Wikipedia:Questia/Nav Questia is an online research library for books and journal articles focusing on the humanities and social sciences. Questia has curated titles from over 300 trusted publishers, including 77,000 full-text books and 4 million journal, magazine, and newspaper articles, as well as encyclopedia entries. Paid access to Questia costs $99 per year.

As of August 2012 Questia has generously agreed to give free, full-access 1-year accounts for 2000 Wikipedia editors to use, distributed at the discretion of the community. Editors will need a 1-year-old account and 1000 edits in order to qualify. At the end of 1 year, editors who found the resource useful can simply re-apply.

video icon Questia search demonstration
  • Editors should always provide original citation information, in addition to linking a Questia article, per WP:V and WP:SAYWHEREYOUGOTIT
  • Editors should not provide bare links to non-free Questia pages
  • Editors should note "(subscription required)" in the citation, where appropriate

Examples

<ref>{{cite web|title=National implementation committee approves funds for Swami Vivekananda values' education project|url=http://www.questia.com/doc/1P3-2131107461.html#|publisher=US Fed News Service, Including US State News |accessdate=14 April 2012|date=September 2010|subscription=yes|via=[[Questia]]}}</ref>
  • "National implementation committee approves funds for Swami Vivekananda values' education project". US Fed News Service, Including US State News. September 2010. Retrieved 14 April 2012 – via Questia. {{cite web}}: Unknown parameter |subscription= ignored (|url-access= suggested) (help)

If citing a book, optionally adding the ISBN of the cited book (found inside the Questia book, on its copyright page) increases both accessibility and verifiability for those without Questia access, who may then use the automatically-generated ISBN hyperlink. ISBNs can be included in many citation templates (including cite web), by means of the |isbn= parameter. Alternatively, as in the example below, immediately after (outside) the citation and Questia reference templates, simply type the acronym ISBN (with no punctuation) followed by one space and then the 13-digit (preferred) or 10-digit ISBN.

Apply or renew

To apply for new access add your username at the bottom with #{{user8|USERNAME|Project=code}} (eg. {{user8|Example|Project=en}}). Tell us in what areas you're active and how you'll use the Questia resources. If you had an account, it expires after one year, so please reapply.

Renewal requests generally will require using a different email address than the one you previously used for Questia. To re-use the same email address, please email Luis.Pedraza@cengage.com directly asking for an extension of your TWL account.

  8. Banjo (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) 59k+ edits and Sysop at gl.wikipedia. Other than admin dutires, I focus my work both in translations/adaptations and improvement of GA/FA to galician wiki and improving already created content and article referencing in galician wiki. Lately focused on history related articles, but I usually work on a vast array of topics. Access to these resources would be really helpful in these tasks and in improving the general referencing of gl.wiki articles. Banjo (talk) 09:41, 11 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  12. Alansohn (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) As a firm believer in adding references to articles, I'm finding that fewer sources are available online and that there are many available at Questia that are outside my reach.
