Fair use rationale for Image:DNHseal.gif
Image:DNHseal.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Prime Minister
The article states that Mr. Badlani was made the Prime Minister for a day so that he could act as a Head of State. However, under international law, a Prime Minster is not a Head of State, but a Head of Government. NelsonLB (talk) 02:15, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
Concerns about the Freedom movement section
While I commend this expansion[1] of history section(it could be split into a sepearte article). I could not help but notice that it overplays the role played by the RSS. The reason for my concern is this article from Prabhakar Sinari (one of the leaders of the movement); in 2003 which says that the role of the RSS in liberating D&NH was "at best, marginal". --Deepak D'Souza 04:25, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
Hi Deepak,
I respect your views. I agree with you that the 'Liberation of D & N' itself can be a separate article. But I disagree with you on the role of organizations. I don't think any organisation's role is being overplayed. It covers the role of all players from a neutral source. But since you have quoted an article written by Prabhakar Sinari himself, let us consider the following.
"Desai was against the RSS organisation as well, he took the risk of bringing in the Sangh volunteers and successfully managed to camouflage their identity from Mr. Nagarwala till the liberation of Silvassa."
— page 51, Dadra and Nagar Haveli: past and the present, by P S Lele
It is clear that RSS volunteers were told to hide their identities by leaders like Appasaheb Karmalkar and Jayanti Bhai Desai, so that their identities do not irk the Indian authorities especially DIG of Special Reserve Police, Mr Nagarwalla. But the identities would have become amply clear by the time they captured Silvassa. Consider this
"By this time, Mr. Nagarwala also came to know about the identity of the RSS workers on the scene. He accepted it as a lesser evil."
— page 56, Dadra and Nagar Haveli: past and the present, by P S Lele
I am not sure who all knew explicitly of the identity of the volunteers. Atleast a few in the Azad Gomatak Dal were aware of that. Mr. Mohan Ranade, one of the leaders of Azad Gomantak Dal (the same group to which Mr Prabhakar Sinari belongs), who was part of the Dadra Nagar Haveli liberation and after that faced solitary confinement in Portugal prison for 14 years, has the following to say about this
"Almost all the volunteers brought by Sudhir Phadke, Rajabhau Wakankar and Nana belonged to Rastriya Swayam Sevak Sangh. Their number now rose to one hundred. We were only twenty-five who had gone from Goa. Sudhir Phadke and others could have done the job all by themselves without taking our organization’s name or our help. But, the political exigencies were not permitting them to do so. After having some breakfast we grabbed our weapons and started to march in the direction of Silvassa. There was a feeling of joy in the air."
— page 40, Struggle Unfinished, Mohan Ranade
Clearly, the RSS volunteers had more than a "marginal role" as you claim. Going by Mr Mohan Ranade, whatever has been said in the article actually underplays the role of RSS and not overplays it. So was Mr Prabhakar Sinari unaware of the identities of the RSS volunteers? Was he kept in dark by his own comarades in the Azad Gomantak Dal? Don't know, Can't say.
Secondly, Mr Prabhakar Sinari's basis of argument is Indian Government's affidavit saying no Indian nationals were involved. We must understand that the affidavit was India's official line. Officially Indian authorities would also deny that DIG of SRP Nagarwalla had any role to play in the liberation. Mr Sinari, in his enthusiasm, himself contradicts this when he says that few volunteers of the RSS were with them. One of propositions can be true; RSS volunteers from Pune were not there at all or few of them were there - Both can't be true at the same time.
With due respects to Mr Prabhakar Sinari, and acknowledging his role too, his blanket 'I did it all' statement, where he does not even mention the role of other allies like the NMO, leave alone the RSS, does not hold much water. Especially when he is contradicted substantially by his own comrades and also by himself. I think we should go by neutral sources.
We can divide the page as you have suggested and expand them both further with more sources. ---nihar (talk) 05:47, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
Independent country
Was independence recognized by Portugal or any other country in 1954? Goustien (talk) 20:22, 22 February 2010 (UTC)
- Not by Portugal until 1975. I doubt it was recognised as a country by any other, not come across any sources so far. But India did not annex it till it invaded the other Portuguese colonies in 1961. --Deepak D'Souza (talk) 09:51, 23 February 2010 (UTC)
change the map
Please change the map of India depicted in this article. The map depicts Jammu & Kashmir and Arunachal Pradesh as not parts of India. This is an insult to the whole Indians. Unless you change it, Wikipedia may face a ban in the country. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 117.201.64.195 (talk) 10:58, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
Liberation
I didn't edit the article because there needs to be discussion before this change, but in an encyclopedia there needs to be neutrality, controversial words like "liberation" (normaly used from Indian point of view) or "invasion" (normaly used from Portuguese point of view) should be mellowed into non-emotional terms for an unadulterated encyclopedic experience. This also seems to be the case in Goa, Daman and Diu articles, so it is a larger issue. What do others here think? — Preceding unsigned comment added by FernãoMendesPinto (talk • contribs) 23:30, 4 March 2013 (UTC)
