In spite of its relatively small size, Heriot is a lively, thriving community. The School (as of Sept 2006) has a role of 56 pupils and sends out well-educated and happy children. There are numerous community groups operating in the village including drama groups, [[WRI]],[[brownies]],a [[karate]] club and a thriving after school club.
